I am wondering between these two devices to produce music, looking forward to getting advice from everyone.

 

Focusrite Interfaces have solid A/D converters and also have nice collabos with plugin devs. If you register your Interface, you get a free plugin every few months which is cool. In the end yo can't go wrong with both on the entry level of interfaces.

 

I have a Steinberg UR242 and I am very satisfied with it.

About Scarlet, I heard some good stuff and also some very bad stuff. It seems not to be consistent depending on OS and computer. As you see in the above video.

 

Stay away from Focusrite. I have one, now the knobs are melting .... And headphone amp is too weak for pro high impedance headphones.

 

Well, for me Focusrite is absolute crap. All I ever had from focusrite over the last 20 years was badly built, expensive, and in the end just a 'style' product.
I am a RME fanboy, but when i wanted something more takeaway-priced i started buying Steinberg Interfaces 3 years ago.
They're good. They are reasonably priced and they're no nonsense products.
Just read the crap Focusrite writes about it's magic low latency technology.
With a little background knowlege you can easily see: What they say is just impossible to accomplish. That alone makes them an absolute a##hole company.
For all those guys now replying "but my focusrite interface says it has 1ms latency":
The daw just displays what the driver says. The driver can 'lie'.
thats what they do. Measure your roundtrip latency yourself, and you gona hate focusrite.

 

@musiclove Focusrite cant seem to get it right with their drivers. If you decide on Focusrite be ready to deal with it. Last 2 days I have been working on a client's system with a new 18i20 Second Gen, and it is a freaking nightmare. Just to test I, hooked
up my RME and all problems with latency,glitches and drops disappeared.

Ive had a Steinberg UR28M for about 3-4 years now... nothing but good vibes.. solid unit.

Previous to this.. I had a Focusrite.. That thing got smashed into a million pieces all over my driveway, having had one problem after another with it.

so eh... there ya go.
