Steinberg have announced today that they are to stop developing, updating and maintaining their VST 2 software interface.

However this news doesn’t mean that VST 2 will stop being supported – as all Steinberg applications will continue to be VST 2 compatible. “Our host applications, such as Cubase, Nuendo and WaveLab, will continue to support VST 2. We are, however, planning to make the SDK for VST 2 unavailable by the end of this year,” product marketing manager Timo Wildenhain says.

With the death of RTAS it was only a matter of time before VST2 got dropped.
Bad part is,(for P.T. users)most companies are years away from axx.

    Peace

the SDK kit was removed on december 2013 from the steinberg page, so the actual development ended there already.
