This is interesting .. The War of the EQ's is coming

    More than a Great-Sounding EQ

SplitEQ is a groundbreaking EQ that offers a new approach to corrective and creative audio equalization. It excels at Enhancing, Repairing, Rebalancing, and Widening any musical source or audio signal. SplitEQ is both a surgical tool for fixing particularly nasty problems and a creative tool that opens up exciting new musical possibilities. More than just an EQ—It’s a new and better tool.

    By Musicians For Musicians
SplitEQ reduces the distance between what you want to do and how you actually do it, and with fewer tradeoffs of other EQs. A low-shelf boost on a kick drum will yield muddiness rather than delicious oomph. A low cut on a low male vocal removes plosives but at the expense of low-end richness. SplitEQ gives you the surgical control to address the problematic part of a sound without losing the magic and without the need for additional tools.

SplitEQ is not just a corrective tool, it is also a new type of creative tool for taking your mixes to new heights through its independent L/R and Mid-Side panning. With SplitEQ every source is split into a pair of sonically distinct elements offering your music, mixes, and audio signals an extraordinary new level of musicality.

    Features:
World-class 8-band parametric EQ with pristine musical filters
EQ Transient and Tonal parts of a sound separately using Eventide’s patented Structural Split™ technology
Control Transient and Tonal Output levels
Enhance the stereo-field with continuous Transient and Tonal panning controls (L/R and Mid/Side modes)
Control the underlying Split technology for fine tuning and experimentation
Globally scale the EQ curves together or independently
Peak, Notch, Bandpass, High Shelf, Low Shelf, Tilt Shelf, High Pass, and Low Pass filter types with slopes from 6 to 96 dB/octave
Innovative real-time spectrum analyzer displays the Transient and Tonal streams independently
Comprehensive Presets Library includes 150+ presets
A/B buttons allow quick auditioning of two presets or settings plus Undo/ Redo functionality
    Resizable GUI with zoom options

Looks a lot like Entropy EQ from Sonible. They just use regular terms such as transient and tonal here. Nice to see a new plug-in from Eventide though!

    Is it War again?

If possible, please try to replace the word War with another. For example. The competition is getting tougher.
I don't like this usage of the word War. The term is too often used lightly.

A war is an organized conflict carried out with the use of considerable means with weapons and violence, in which collectively proceeding collectives are involved. The aim of the collectives involved is to assert their interests. https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Krieg

There's no eq war and no competition on eq market. Known best-in-the-world mixing engineers work with pro-q 1/2 (Jaycen Joshua) or MH Channel Strip (Serban Ghenea) or Waves emulations (Scheps, Brauer etc) or straight stock eqs (many top producers). The only "war" is over amateurs' (pompously named "pro-sumers") wallets.

PS: If you really think one EQ sounds beter than other, ask your partner to adjust stuff during a blind test. You'll be amazed on how many plugins you're qoing to stop using just because they don't really make the difference your eyes made you to believe they make.

you do realize that it's just a hyperbole right?

and here's the list of new EQ's so far
    Claro
    Kirchhoff-EQ
    RESO (maybe)

i think nowadays some of these EQs are trying to become the next gulfoss or soothe

First, someone would have to define what "better" means and in what context. And - yes - there are indeed tonal differences between EQs. I was neither able to null bands in Pro-Q with Claro. Nor was I able to null LP10 and Pro-Q. These differences are marginal, but they are there. Do these nuances make a decisive difference? No. But the UI and the feature set does make a big difference!

Not really... All of these listed EQs have their very own selling point.

The thing is, there is more than sound. without automatic gain compensation a EQ simply sucks.

That explains why people didn’t managed to mix from 50s to 2010s without eq auto gain compensation. Oh wait...

In the 50s, there were no digital EQs that were operated with a mouse.
When operating hardware, I use both hands. Means I have one hand free to use a fader to compensate for the filter gain.

Equilibrium doesn't have analog mojo though. It's interface is completely digital.

You mean it doesn't have any defect, right?
So it's a perfect EQ that sound engineers of the '70s and' 80s undoubtedly would have considered as the absolute holy grail if they'd had the chance to use it.

Whoever said a blindfold test for me, was the most correct. Aesthetics are always a nice addition, but the ears tell you the story.
Personally, it sounds good and does what it says it does or it doesn't...for your music or projects i.e. I have nothing else of use to add.

Wow, really? I'll tell that to all those ignorant producers who have been using low-shelves on kick drums to craft classic records on equalizers like the Neve 1073. I'm sure this new Eventide thing would be similarly popular 50 years from now.
