SPL unveils: Iron - Mastering Compressor

    Iron is a Mastering Compressor based on the Variable Mu/Tube design @120V (switchable to stereo)

    Features include:
    - 6 rectifying tubes (adjustable tube cathode voltage)
    - Feedforward circuit
    - Choose different tubes for the rectifier
    - Integrated sidechain EQ presets
    - High end switches and knobs (Elma & ALPS)
    - Four Sidechain filters
    - "AirBass" and "TapeRollOff" switches
    - Each channel has a threshold, attack, release, input and output level controls
    - Each channel has its own VU-meter with 3-way calibration switch
    - 3-position bias switch
    - 19” 3U rack size

    However, it's nice to see they still make products for "enthusiasts", like this. Gorgeous compressor. You don't even have to hear it to know that. :wink: If I inherited a $1000000 I'd buy all just SPL hardware for mastering. :wink: Except the monitors, of course. For monitors I'd choose the most expensive and biggest pair of Dynaudios there is. :)

    My guess would be somewhere between $3000-4000 knowing the prices of SPL mastering gear. Maybe $5000 even. It's only meant for the "big guys". :( My whole studio costs like two of these then. It's not worth that money in my view as TDR Kotelnikov GE is quite good as a mastering compressor for the price of one meal at a restaurant, but it's certainly nice to drool at and dream about. Why not? Nobody can and should be able to take away your dreams, ever. :wink:
