Size: ~33 GB compressed .ncw for the close mics, out: january 29th.

Too bad the recent recession killed the good old 0day times

But there is hope. Always. :dunno:

This will be a real competitor to 8dio and Cinematic Strings.

I just think of one very simple thing:
What is the real difference from Sable Complete?

Sometimes it looks (at least to me) that some developers releases almost the same libraries over and over!
I hope someone could inlighten me a bit *yes*

It's very simple - the amount of players.
Sable is recorded to be chamber string library, just 16 players.
Mural is full ensemble, 60+ players.

I consider 8dio the fast food McD department of sampling. Of course depending on the style you're after, it may work well.

Folmann just wants your money, and changes product output more frequently than his underwear,
while using cheap hypey buzzterms like "deep-sampled this n that".

Me no Fol for this marketing crap... *no*

The real innovation, the gourmet stuff can be found at Orchestral Tools, and to some extent, yes, Spitfire Audio.

Although i don't like their stiff lipped company image. You know, the artsy-fartsy kind...

+1 SkyRed for 8dio, Troels is businessman, not composer

... yes, he is a businessman, but Troels has a really great musicality.

His demos are so good that with every new instrument I have the feeling that I must have it.

Which means that for Sable owners it will be basically useless, because you can create larger sections the way that paul Thompson showed in a video (load the same patch 3 times, change the tune of 2 of them in Kontakt by +3/-3 and then transpose them back in the GUI appropriately) and get pretty much the same result.

Personally, I'm much more stoked about CineStrings, they look very slick, and I don't have a NASA grade computer to run Berlin Strings in a template anyway.

I think the sound between these VIs differs.
The larger sections of Sable with the tune-changing trick and 3-times-loading do not sound like the Mural full epic orchestra. *no*

If you work for TV media you will need more the thin and intimate sounding section of Sable.
But if you want to write something for cinema it will be a better decision to use the Mural sounds.

It depends on your intentions what you wanted to write.

Seeing as composers rarely use just one string library, I don't think the difference between the tripled Sable section and a single Mural section would be so noticeable in a mix. Not saying it will be a useless library per se, but if you wanna go for the epic sound through a SF product, there is the Albion range for that.

    Exactly as tonk said,
in real ensembles, players tune together. Of course, layering might be OK, but it won't sound like the real thing. Very close, but not the real thing.

Also there is noticeable sonic difference between chamber and ens., I don't think that'll fade away in any mix :dancing:

By the by, it looks like SF aims to eat up all of our HDD space - I see what they did there! (HZ01 - 70 GB, two more volumes to come, now Mural with 33 gigabytes of samples just on the close mics...)
