Mod wheel is a shortcut on your physical keyboard. It's good for fast tremolo/vibrato switch, some filter actions etc. Something that you need when you are performing your stuff. Omnipshere even doesn't have visual representation of mod wheel which means that without keyboard the only two possible ways to trigger mod wheel: 1) writing automation, 2) using it thru modulation side-window wich is time killer. I need at least 3 macro knobs with it's visual representaion.

It doesnt work as a proper filter for subractive synthesis and it never was intended to be used this way. Try to make any deep/summer house pluck with this filter. All your questions will dissapear at moment.

I need to stack 3-4 layers and make a pluck bass typical for deep house. Every layer should have it's own filter, FX section, and in the end everything must go thru master-filter with proper envelope. Learn? Automation? Are you serious?

Let's calculate how many presets was created for Sylenth1 since 2007. I'm not sure, but i think it's more than 14000. So amount of useless presets isn't a criterion. But lacking in basic architecure, signal path variations, modulation and compatibility - is an objective criterion. Because it does not related on my love or hate. Objectiveness in this unverse means "same for everyone in any condition/time". It means that if i can't switch mode for the master filter (from 12db to 48 db) - noone can. If I can't modulate master filter with proper envelope - noone can. This is objectiveness, kids. If you don't need this - it's your own personal expirience, and it's subjective. So one more time. SUBJECTIVELY you can love this synth, you can be a fanboi of that roland's ex synth programmer, but OBJECTIVELY - Omnisphere is a poorly designed overpriced sampler with VERY basic synth options. This is Nexus for hipsters, lol.

Oh right, well I guess ur out of luck then! You do get sliders (MM) tho? These are linear so (for me) lot less annoying than virtual knobs all over the place. Like I said, you can assign these to whatev. I'm not sure of the issue rly?

I was guessing at what ya were tryn to do w/ Omnisphere, thought you might be trying to control directly. If it can't do what ya want, guess that's moar Eric Persing's problem, not mine!

Well, I think there are layers ABCD nao, and they all have lots (some) FX (ABCD on fx) & filters (mod matrix).

Well, you can use lots of automation tricks to effectively do that, if ya desperately wanted to. It's not a very good solution, I agree. I guess it's just live with the annoying quirks or use something else, in the end...

    Thanks @famouslut.
I hope this problem will be fixed because I tried some minutes the new features in Omnisphere 2.5 and I loved them!
The new Oberheim wavetables and new filters sound so good! I haven't seen the others features yet...
I am so unhappy with my issues.

Man i would love to know how you rate sounds haha wouldnt you just go to 5 stars everytime?? Every sound for me has its own place in every track, almost impossible for me to rate sounds. You just need to create a project name and add the presets in it. In the Attributes tab on the main page, you can just right click on category and your projects are there, i dont think thats much of a hassle like you made it seem! Its like creating your own private omnisphere bank on the go. For example, if you are into R&B you might create a project bank just with R&B patches (obviously you might want to be a little more specific). This method is super useful and might change your workflow for the better.

What is useless to you might be of use to someone else. The only reason i mentioned 14000 in the first place was to let you know that theres no way you went through all the presets in a few hours and actually experimented with them. I was also trying to make a point that loading times might be slow because some patches carry significant data, for this issue i had to dedicate an ssd for libraries altogether. By the way, nothing wrong with nexus hipsters or nexus for hipsters, wtv the hell that means...if its working for you in the music world and you are profiting from it, who's to judge? The listener doesnt give 2 fucks if you use nexus, omnisphere, diva or wtv. You are talking a bunch of trash bro.

Oh yeah, prolly forgot to thank @Spyfxmk2 for this alert topic! Thanks a lot, man!

Well, I guess I have ears and sometimes pay attention to them. Not often! :D Anyway, if ya wanna see? You can (backup ur own file first, obvs!) check out exactly what I think of (most) of the default Omni (part) sounds. I've rated all the new Hardware sounds too:

Omnisphere part file index thingy (zippyshare)

Just replace the file in (ie) O:\Omnisphere\STEAM\Omnisphere\Settings Library\User Tags

Or just open in txt editor. Or whatev. You may disagree. But if ur tags are all blank, it will give you a guide, at least! Oh yeah, notice the filesize, not very large...

It's just added steps on (already) added steps, tho. A lot of the basic architecture does seem half-finished or missing in Omni. Given how expensive it is and how many ppl are working on it and how old it is... Seems like we just have to put up w/ it cos it's ubiquitous.

Yeah, I feel like ima doing smthn wrong w/ Studio One, got loads of blacklisted plugs. I've tried following troubleshooting, but only thing left (that ppl say works w/ other plugs) is to use jbridger or maybe to or use another wrapper liek VEP or whatev? Hopefully this will be fixed soon...

I played few hours with 2.5 version. The library (first was omnisphere 1, then omnisphere 2) wasting space on my hard drive since 2008. How do you think 10 years is enough to "go thru patches"? - I think yes.

someone can help me, the names of the sounds do not appear but if I press in the blank space it loads the sound, since it was authorized the challenge code does not appear in omnisphere even though I gave it in copy and it was given to me, I hope you can support me, I leave captures ...

Daniel, I just finished reading all your posts from this thread and I can confidently say that you have no idea what you're talking about. Omnisphere can do all of the things you complained about and more.

I use Spire and Diva and Sylenth regularly as well, so to be fair, I do agree with you about the interface. Omnisphere is so much more complex than those other plug-ins, and you can do so much more with it, which is probably why it takes longer to navigate through it all in order to do some of the more basic aspects of synthesis that you were referring to. But I do know that you can do all of those things you said can't be done, and if you're genuinely interested, I'd be willing to show you how.

IMO, it's all very situational. If I'm in a time crunch and need something quick, I'm not going to use Omnisphere unless it's something I've already made before, because it does take more time to setup than those other plug-ins, especially if you don't stay organized. Through the years, I've saved so many env/arp/lfo/filter/effect racks and other presets and patches that I rarely ever have to make anything from scratch anymore. I also make sure to add tags and have made good use of the "Projects" feature that lets you tag patches or soundsources for later use without having to save it as an individual patch or whatever.

The best thing about Omnisphere, in my opinion, is the "Lock" function. It was introduced in Omnisphere 2, and no other vst or plug-in comes close to having something as powerful as that. It gives you an endless supply of possibilities and combinations for new sound creation, and you can really come up with some unique sounds by spending some time browsing with that.

Omnisphere is known as the worst big hybrid synth (unless you are preset whoring in the film/video game industry; then it's probably good ) . Marketing of it is great. Maybe it will become a good "supersynth/rompler" after they release a few expansions with brass/strings/better sampled vocals and expand the synthesis (and sample editing/importing) options. Also, it's wasting too much CPU for basically nothing, wtf are developers smoking these days (same applies to companies like Arturia - their DX7 can kill a computer - for the same amount of resources you can run many FM7/8 on the highest sample rate options in your daw... )

So far its running ok,you should backup any older version you had working and then jump in ,
least that way you can just copy the old version back if anything goes wrong.

Just been looking on the web for a few new skins for 2.5 but ended up back on audiosex
whats always funny when that happens
