I have a pair of PreSonus Eris E3.5, Studio Monitor which sit on the top shelf of my Studio RTA producer desk.

I have a digitial piano on my studio desk, and a variety of DAW software , Kontakt, Logic pro on my mac which outputs to my computer sound card and these speakers.

I have since having the speakers had this annoying reverb when i press particular notes on my digital piano. I suspect its because the problem happens with certain frequency sounds

I've tried putting some foam under the speakers but this hasnt helped. I've tried the low/high cut off setting on back of speakers but this doesn't make a scrap of difference. The problem seems worse ( and maybe isolated ) to the right speaker as if i disconnect this speaker i dont get reverb from the left speaker at all.

I'm wondering whether its a fault with speakers, or poor quality speakers. I'm not clued up on what causes such issues.

Would i be better off getting speakers with the next size up of drivers? Any other thoughts from someone else's experience knowledge in this field?

In the test by the online magazine Bonedo, the following was mentioned as a disadvantage:
unbalanced frequency response with disturbing resonances

I quote from the test result below:

The speakers don't deliver enough in the midrange between 200 and 500 Hertz, but they do have a very clear resonance at around 1.5 kilohertz. Not a nice sound. Up to around 3.5 kilohertz I feel an overemphasis that I can't get used to when listening to my favorite playlist, which I often listen to, with songs from different genres.

I don't enjoy listening to music on the generation 2 of the Presonus Eris 3.5. Similar to a fleeting direct look at the sun, my hearing can't block out the unpleasant resonance punch. The low range also doesn't sound as homogeneous as in the previous model. To my ears, the bass goes down a few hertz, but the range up to around 200 hertz seems undefined.

Of course, I don't expect any sonic miracles from a really cheap speaker in such a small design. But what has changed in terms of sound between the great original edition and the second generation is very disappointing. The two equalizers don't manage to eliminate the major outliers in the frequency response.

Test of the Eris 3.5 Gen. 2: Conclusion

With the revision of the Eris 3.5, the small monitor from Presonus has become a poor choice for listening to music. Where the original surprised me positively, the "Next Generation" delivers unpleasant resonances that significantly reduce the enjoyment of listening. The monitor adorns any work surface with its successful design, and its features such as the equalizer, auto-standby or the three analogue connection options are also praiseworthy. However, since the revision, the sound is no longer sufficient to recommend it for listening to music or for productions where the focus is on good sound.

Test one of the speakers in a completely different room with the same input that causes the sympathetic resonance. Also, check your room for things like electric or acoustic guitars & basses, lamps, studio decor where things might sympathetically vibrate due to your speakers.... My hunch, I'll bet something in your room is vibrating & not the speaker.
