Hi! I want to compare some libraries (strings, brass, woodwinds ...) etc to see how they sound these combined sections sound like. I was thinking about maybe there could be a midi file of a soundtrack or even classical music style reference that works for this function, with the separate midi tracks for section / instruments to do this analysis. This is for learning and quality testing purposes. On YouTube I found a lot for piano, but not the orchestral type. Do you know something like that?

You can't compare libraries like that, because you need to play/program each one on its own to have anything close to semi-realistic performance.
Additionally, different libraries have different number of players recorded.
So, what are you going to compare exactly? Sound?

 

Well, the problem with ready made midi files applied to orchestral libraries, is that most of these will not be adapted to the particular way each library is programmed. So you may encounter problems of articulations and expression which make it useless, unless you take time to modify them for each library you will test.
