I am a loyal Soundtoys customer, I already have 3 plugins and would like to buy the complete Soundtoys 5.
The normal price for everyone during Black Friday is $ 229.
When I log into my account to trade up to Soundtoys 5, it costs me $ 255.

It's a fair price for future customers, but no advantage for those who already have several plugins like me.
Sorry Soundtoys, but this year my money won't be for you

I own 8 Soundtoys products and my upgrade is 225. So I save $4 over those who own nothing. They really should do better for their loyal customers. Doesn't make me want to support them further.

BTW, Soundtoys is not compatible with BigSur yet…

I don't know why it takes so long since they released their last new plugin like 2 or 3 years ago.

 

They work fine in Big Sur.

You are both right!
The Soundtoys plugins have not yet been updated.
But, soundtoys plugins can work with Rosetta 2 with the new M1 Chip and Big Sur.
With Big Sur, when we do "Command + i" to get the information of an application, it shows whether it is an application (Big Sur) or if it is an old one (Universal).

 

No they don't They crash the Host all the time.

 

I am talking about Intel here not Apple Silicon. BigSur supports both but the code has to be adjusted for every new macOS releases most of the times. And as of yet, they don't work for me.

 

So, if I understood correctly, avoid Big Sur with old macs.
Big Sur only on new ones with M1 chip.
Anyway, for people like me who make music.
It was the same situation a few years ago when Apple switched to Intel processors.
Now is the time to be patient and to wait les M2.

 

I am using an Intel i9 10850K with a Z490 Board… I wouldn't consider that an "old" mac. What I am saying is basically: SoundToys Plugins are not compatible yet. Because they are working fine in Catalina.

I don't care about Apple Hardware AT ALL.

Regarding to audio production, Mojave is my last macOS on older macs (Intel), for 'normal' work wait for 7 years I tested Big Sur with supported apps and not happy for now, too many breaks in core system. All improvements are made for last two gen of macs imho
Graphic on old cards sucks, remote desktop can be faster.

Cubase 11 is supported, and works without problems but not even close as on Mojave, 30% slower. I compared same projects.
Older plugins have weird bugs as can't save presets or reinit menu etc...
Studio One works ok if I disable graphic accelerations option but there is improvements in 5.1.1 but not yet there
Then famous and old story OpenGL, on Big Sur forget apps (large number of plugins) if they don't use new api from Metal and newer arch is also important.

This will be long and painful transition, maybe is time to back to windows, no we need fancy GUI for linux and bsd

F*** all this, time to back to Atari and hardware

It didn't work for you already, and you're going to keep trying to get users' activation codes to try and activate your Echo Boy with guessed codes, even though the error you got tells you it's not going to work. If you want to waste your time, that's up to you.
