Aztec Death Whistle is a deeply sampled folk wind instrument that captures the dark soul of traditional ceremonial clay resonators used in human sacrifice rituals at the height of the Aztec empire during the 1400s. We recorded it dry and wet, with sustains, staccatos, flutter-tongues, dynamic short and long effects, hand and finger percussion and tons of bonus soundscapes and atmospheric FX. We sampled it with deep round robin and velocity layering and provide you full control over this dark instrument with an intuitive and powerful user interface.


This kiln-fired clay whistle is grouped into the same family of whistles as bird and animal calls. It has two chambers which create air cavities that are resonated by blowing into the top of the skull. It produces a harsh, raspy atonal vocal sound very much like a dying breath, but with a shrill demonic essence that is certain to evoke dread on an almost instinctive level. It is the sound of death incarnate.

The library is for the full retail version of Kontakt 5.5 and later (OSX 10.8 or later / Windows 7 or later). The free Kontakt Player does not support this format. It comes equipped with dynamic sound shaping and mixing controls: swell, attack, release, offset, vibrato and filter, articulation bank loading, adaptive arpeggiation, FX Rack and built-in reverbs with 70 different room, hall, ambient and special FX impulses. And all samples are standard pcm stereo wave files ready for direct import into most audio and video software, with or without Kontakt.
