Hi sound specialists,
Just one question. I try to make a sound like the one in this song:

Depeche Mode - Sister of night

listen from 4:38 - end, That resonant angels choir or whatever you can call it.

Can you please give me a hint where I can get such sound from (Sample Library or maybe a softsynth already have a similar one in its presets)

Or maybe you can give an idiot like me a short discription how to design such an sound when trying to do it by myself! But remember, I'm not a great sound designer at all!

That sound can be pulled from any Ensoniq synth or a clone of it, btw its not from EW QL Symphonic Orchestra Silver Edition i can tell you that a 100%.

Maybe its not the sound I was looking for...but the choir "Dazeon" mentioned.

 

You may have miss read my reply i'll break it down easier.

EW QL Symphonic Orchestra Silver Edition isn't the Lib they used, it may have one close i don't know but i can tell you this they used an Ensoniq VFX/SD.

EW QL Symphonic Orchestra Silver Edition wasn't even created in 1997 when the track was rlsd.

If you use any half decent Choir may it be sample or synth just open the VCF up on the synth and add some Resonance to the sound, the same can be applied to a sample lib but with a slightly different result.

Again there are numerous ways to achieve this sound but i have kept it very basic for you.

Ahh, OK..Of cause I know that the mentioned Kontakt Library has been released later than the ultra album..My comment about the "EW QL Symphonic Orchestra Silver Edition" was related to the choir "Dazeon" mentioned in his post. So it seems there was a simple misunderstanding. Anyway thanks a lot...and maybe someone can tell me if there's also an VSTi that emulates the Ensoniq VFX/SD?

 

I think A.I.R. Expanded has a choir that sounds a bit like that ("Ahhhsome Choir"?). You could also try messing around with Magnus Choir or DSK ChoirZ and some high resonance filtering.
