I managed to get hold of the tascam mixer but having difficulties setting it up with my sound card and was wondering, Could any kind soul please help me setup my Tascam M-164UF to my focusrite 8i6

for what you need to connect your mixer through sound card..?

your mixer itself has a USB port, which you can connect to your PC/Mac and get 16 channel separate tracks...!!

anyway, if you want to do so, just route the Mixer Stereo outputs to Sound Card's LINE IN

Thanks Pranchi - Im a noob to mixers, all sorted now though!!!

 

you have 6 peamps(mic inputs)on the mixer and 2 line inputs on the soundcard,and two mic preamps too;you can use 4 mics by routing two mic preamps of the mixer into the two line inputs of the card ,and have four mics to record in your daw!!!

hi hooch,here is a first scenario;plug the kaoss with usb straight in the computer and the audio output(stereo) from the kaoss
into the mixer in the line inputs,(if the mixer is routed to the soundcard, the monitoring will be the one from the computer(soundcard)!and you also monitor directly from the stereo output of the mixer!!!hope this help!!

FYI.... for any guitar recording plug directly into Focusrite mic inputs. the preamp in that is MUCH better then in the tascam unless your using a tube preamp then going into the Tascam might be ok or of course actually mic'N a cabinet which is the best way IMHO
