Sound Dust presents SteelDrumPercussionRoom, the fourth volume in their Modular Chaos Engine series for Kontakt 5.5.1+.

Sound Dust's SteelDrumPercussionRoom is described as a kit of dusty, binaurally recorded acoustic drum samples and slightly prepared steel drums… Or, in the words of its creators, "a kind of Tom Waits percussion machine" with drums of all shapes and all sizes.

There are huge marching band bass drums, ripped and rattly snares and kicks, frame drums, congas, bongos, toms, hi-hats, cymbals, boxes, broken metal shelving… Plus, there are the “prepared” steel drums. These are composed of a neglected set of bass and cello steel pans, played with fingers and soft mallets to avoid sounding like proper steel drums so as to ensure the sound to be more about apocalypse than calypso. The tunings are said to be quite iffy, but there are many velocity layers per hit for what is announced as a rusty hang drum like effect.

Both kits were recorded binaurally in a room with long decays.
