Sony has brought the cassette back from the dead by unveiling a tape that can hold a whopping 148 gigabytes per square inch. If you can’t do the math, that’s 185 terrabytes of total data. We’ll wait as you toss your iPod into the trash.

The tape, which was unveiled this weekend at the International Magnetics Conference in Dresden, holds approximately 74 times the amount of data of standard tapes. (For comparison, by 2010, most standard tapes could only store about 29.5 GB per square inch.)

If I´am "sharing Misinformation"..., well, Sorry!
At the moment I´m thinking of KontaktGuru`s proposal to implement a like/dislike feature.

lol So instead of developing cheaper and larger capacity solid state drive they've been unwinding and rewinding tape?

Way to think so far out of the box that you're in another box... called recycling.

I SAW A MONKEY ON THAT VIDEO ... then I stopped watching...

ya about 30+ years ago I used a tape machine on my computer

    LOAD "programXYZ",8,1

Then around 1988 - 1992 I used TAPE to backup my online server (BBS system).

Then in the late 90's I taught classes as a profession on how to backup your data with TAPE using my employers well known backup products.

Now... its 2014.... and I just watched a video of a guy and a MONKEY ... telling us about the marvels of tape backups....

The internet cracks me up so much

Cassettes were a great invention. GOD I miss the mix-tapes! Kids these days have no idea what a cassette tape is.
