That seems pretty good both in terms of sound and graphics wise... Also from the video review I got the impression like you have to overdo it a lot with the distortion to make it sound worst. I mean up to a certain point it handled the aggressive pushing really well.

 

These plugins are such bs.

I'm liking the sound of that demo from the video, never tried Smart Limit before but I will say I never liked what Fabfilter was doing with their limiter. I'm probably alone in this but their other products are far more elite like their compressor and EQ.

It does look good, and limiting is probably a better use case for their "AI" smart thingy, than it is for an EQ.

I bought LVC Audio Limited-MAX not long ago though, so I don't think I could justify buying yet another limiter for a while!

 

Can't go wrong on a limiter these days,
Those dynamic range calculators are really distracting if you ask me, It will make most people chase ghosts for days.

If anyone is interested and really wants to dominate on levels,
they should look into monitor Calibration with K-System.

 

Stay minimalist ... too much plugins

Stay minimalist ... less is more

 

The problem is not loudness, but how it was achieved. Consider it as dynamic shaping process, not just maximization of levels.
I tried probably every limitar out there and didn't find anything better than Limitless, which has 2 Limiters(1 for transients and 1 for dynamics)+Clipper and lets you to control everything you could think of - releases for both limiters and for every crossover; channel separation, frequence separation, clipper charachter and so on. Pair it with Multiplicity and you have an ultimate setup

Dynamic processing is a creative process, even on this stage of production and all of those "super auto AI big brain" things can't do this for you. At least if you want the best.

But someone could like that thing, it's like Ozone Mastering presets

Invisible limiter is probably the cleanest I heard, maybe UrsaDSP Boost is better than it. It can push to insane limits without sounding bad and oversampling makes it even better. But spotify punishes -4 lufs. Lately I have been abusing StandardClip as well, its just so good for achieving more headroom
