This one sounds okay both on the laptop speaker and the HiFi. But the drums that starts at the beginning (snare or what), they are too harsh. Even on the laptop, that likes harsh sounds anyway. I would decrease their volume a bit. They stand out too much. Not a very big problem, but a bit disturbing for me.

Haha. Believe it or not, yesterday there were 4 people in the audiophile store, and they were deassembling and rewiring their factory made 4000$ speakers with wires similar like that in overall thickness, involving the insulation. They said it is needed because in factories they put ridiculously thin cables into everything, this provides an edge for the manufacturer to make profit.

Okay, by the way, seeing you are still interested in this thing, in spite of that I wanted to let this topic go by now, I update it, seeing there is still rumble around it. Mostly for the sake of people who have similar questions and find this topic.

Recently, I visited a local studio. A 20 year institute with constantly being contracted, the equipment supplier technician is in the business since the 70's. It has been mentioned here many times, that one possible solution to my problem would be mixing on dedicated active monitors, for their being more natural, cheating less in connection with the sound. And me, I also experienced it in the studio that when we were switching between active and passive system there, it sounded different. So I was interested in how my mix sounds there. I expected a kind of difference, just because of this latter thing.

Interestingly the mix sounded the same like at home. I was quite surprised, not what I expected. As I mentioned I have KEF passive speakers at home, the monitors in the studio sounded exactly the same. The speakers there were were a pair of KRK V8 Series 2 and a Sub. The sound engineer only suggested that the bass should be lowered a bit. But he said he doesn't see any crucial problem there. He mentioned the panning should have been done more extensively, but I told him the monoish sound is not a really big matter for me in this case, so all we did was to run the song through some hardware filters. They did not change much, but it cleared up certain things. However it only changed very little, the unexperienced listener couldn't even notice the difference.

So considering this, in this specific case, the problem seems not to be related to the lack of active studio monitors when mixing. I would have not expected this outcome, because me I also had a clue that mixing on such monitors would give a different result, I just did not expect that difference would matter too much. However one thing that I did not expect at all is that the song would sound the same like at home. So now I am a little bit confused

It is possible though that in a different studio, with different equipment, I got different results. That is quite plausible. But which studio and which system? And which could be considered as the most ultimate reference???

I have reconsidered my project and problem with it however. It would be an option to remix the whole stuff, ask an engineer to remix, etc. But I mentioned to mix this project, I got the inspiration from this certain video, because this is the approach that I liked the most:

One thing I did not notice however is that this video also suffers from the symptom that my project. I have never listened to this linked song on any other device than my headphones, but if I listen to it on lower grade stuff, it is exactly the same as my project. Sounds quite bad. Too silent, too many lows, to little highs. Not a surprise though, I copied this exact same song to mix.

So all in all, I concluded that in case this is the approach that I want for my mix, the only thing I can do is to accept it performs cross-platform as it is. I don't want to deviate away from this approach for the sake of lower grade stuff, I am not in the situation that would require that marketingwise anyway. So I decided to leave it as it is, especially after being in the studio and have the sound engineer have a listen. If in the future I meet someone who can offer a solution that would stay loyal to the initial mixing approach but would offer compatibility with more listening environment, I will go for that. But at the moment it seems this is all I can do, if I consider this video as a target for my own project.

Dear @sono, nice report. Thank you! My conclusion:

After 83 answers to your question "Song mixed perfectly for HiFi sounds bad on mobile" you are exactly where you were at the beginning. You will neither change the way you mix and record nor have you received an answer to your question.

Don't take my comment personally, but I just had to get it off my chest.

Because "audiophiles" usually have no clue about electronics or physics. Just believing in something is the key to their money.

Thank you really, I appreciate but this project is already finished. And I decided to go with my original mix, altering the kick drum and bass tone a bit. I found on 50% of the tested devices it will be listenable, and cannot devote more time for it because that song is not our "flagship" song anyway. It has brought up an old issue that I wanted to ask about, that's the whole point of this thread, we got as far as we did, need move on now. I shared my recent findings though because it may still be useful for someone else, even if they agree with me or not. Cross-platform compatibility is a real issue in the audio world, who knows for whom this thread will be useful for.
