I'm wondering why the sonarworks plugin software doesn't support apple earpods which is a very common earphone used by producers on the go many instances. Or is it that the profile has been created... and if its available how an it be installed.

For headphones special measuring devices are used that are not compatible with earphones.

Earphones cannot be measured with the same precision. Ears are different and also different tips cause different frequency responses. A professional grade calibration plug-in might be useless here. Moreover, I guess "producers" with Apple Earpods don't care about calibration...

You are asking why a software that costs 9 the price dosnt support 10 Bucks apple a** plugs ? no software could help with that things. The software can correct theadphones and not do miracles.

You don't get it... I'm not saying that I don't have a good headphone but having an earpod profile would be a welcome idea cause many a times i've been in position where the only earpiece available is an earpod (mostly transit)......

sorry @ohmowl where can i find this profile? what i found was that sonarworks has another desktop app called True-Fi where they have the Apple earbud profiles, just testing the trial now.

Edit: i have the legit version 4.3.4 build 2 of Sonarworks Reference for Headphones, but cannot find the Apple earbuds profile on the list.

@WannabeProducer Open Sonarworks Reference. Go to Calibration Profile window. Click on it and at bottom, you will see Open Profile. Click on it and select the one you are looking for.

    Oh man.

Everyones an expert, right? I've mixed on everything from Horrortones to Genelecs. Here's a piece of shocking information - people listen to music on anything and everything. Monitoring through earbuds is as relevant as monitoring through anything, depending of course upon consideration of where that music is most likely to be heard. Not much good for a cinema mix, but good enough for a general balance.

Thanks, i have the last Headphone Edition version 4.3 (Build 2) and the Apple earbuds are not on the list. Guessing if they only include them on the Reference 4 Studio Edition. I don't find a way to update this list. Anyways i'll ask support thanks.

Btw True-Fi from Sonarworks includes the Apple earbuds profile, but having Reference 4 and True-Fi on memory at the same time will mean a constant fght to see who is the owner of the sound driver.

The problem is that you are NOT using an updated headphone profiles database. When you downloaded the latest version, the profile database got downloaded with it. It was placed somewhere else. You need to find it and move it to the location where the app looks for it.

Hey... don’t knock it... Apple ear buds are a decent jump off point if you’re sitt’n at Starbucks cleaning up tracks and play’n around with roughs. I mean... what do most kids listen thru when running into telephone poles instead of paying attention to where they’re walking down the street?...

Can one of you guys upload the Airpods profile here? I seem to be missing all Apple presets.

Im a fan of using earbuds but not the apple ones as the hard plastic hurts ears and the sound me isn't great. I think a lot of low end is cut out. Any other buds with rubber tips for your earholes work and sound better.

I like the idea of this software but I scrapped it after using it for about a year. I come to the conclusion (personal choice) Know your system and trust your instincts. Multiple monitoring sources you know (or don't) in different environments is imperative (my old car has always been the best test) I've always used Thomas Dolby's Aliens ate my Buik as a reference CD to sound out anything because I know it sonically (personal choice)

Yeah..i'm an expert and I'm not referencing anything to tweak a mix based on earbuds
Nah..to the earbuds for the most obvious of reasons
Nah.. they are not are not relevant because lots of people use them

But hey..knock yourself out "bud" Whatever works.. :)

It is almost impossible in my opinion to compensate through software the idiosyncrasies of any number of earbud models as everyone's ears are different and how one holds them in their individual ears can make a huge swing of frequencies heard. Add all of the different variations of tips one can swap out that usually come with many models and it renders a no way scenario. Earphones I can understand to a point but I'd rather smoke some buds than use this software to try to compensate for my buds unique qualities. The ones I'm currently using are Westone W30 which I got a killer deal on at B and H in NYC, like $150 less than anywhere I saw them...and couldn't be happier once they burned in. Three drivers and super cost effective. The only issue I have is that. mp3 files sound like fetid pus compared to the same recording on a .flac file. They are not forgiving.
