I'm Back from my fact finding mission."I took Cataly5t's advice"
The Antivirus Software horror stories are Sneakware, passwords held hostage cant uninstall, Antivir conflicts blocked sites.

Porn sites estimated @ upto 60% chance of infection non existant tech support hidden files viruses, rootkits

Redirect viruses, Hangware, Restore points, Image vs backup, System Restore Windows reinstall, Cloud backup

External backup, recovery mode root executable associations wow!! When I grow up I wanna be a System

Administrator! lol. There are too many programmers in the world with jobs disappearing creating job

security virsus, lol cyber sabotage, thrill seekers control freaks and geeks making life difficult for

the average crack warez adicted musicians. lol. I've heard that kaspersky went on to create his

company after his work computer became infected witha a virus. lol I'm intrigued by this also and i'm

tempted to study this stuff, but I'ts so time consuming i wont have time for music.

Thanks Cataly5t and Saint I choose KIS, Mbam and Rkill for starters Cause you can never be too safe!!!

I choose to install VirtualBox and the OS within OS where I can do everything I want and not worry about viruses. It's also the easiest to install some distribution of Linux in it for browsing. I have both Linux and the same Windows XP installed in VirtualBox for installations and unpacking. I don't run any antivirus nor security software. The most secure system is the one that doesn't even contain the parts that are insecure... ;)

So in my main OS I only run audio software. That's the best of "both worlds". Linux for browsing, Windows for everything else. I also browse from the virtual Windows XP, because I don't have to worry about anything anyway... if something happens, just go back to the previous "snapshot". :)

    Cheers!

No problem mate, glad it helped you out. You're all set then, I think you'll find Kaspersky and MBAM a formidable duo. *yes*
PS I love the title of this thread. Such a paradox, isn't it?
