Just a bit of fun while I'm between recording vocal stuff. So I was messing around with this some time last year. In memory of a larger than life character, now long gone. Was popular in mainsream clubs during the 80's in Europe and America. Who can remember the singer, and the name of the track the bass riff/line is borrowed from?

:rofl:Sorry it was 1 a.m when I posted. Riff. Guess that mass of satin dress and bleached white hair never made it to the valleys then.

ah - firr is riff. You were close. lol

Well, if I couldn't work that out.......unlikely I can work out much else.

Satin dress and bleached hair? That includes 75% of the 80s acts......at least the men.

    Sorry - still can't get it. :D

This is killing me. It's so familiar but I can't place it. I'm not giving up. It'll come to me.
Simple but immensely catchy. The makings of radio gold.

The bass sounds like "Hablando a Tu Corazon" by Argentina's extraordinaire Charly Garcia:

The whole vibe sounds like Technotronic's Pump Up the Jam, though I could be awfully wrong.

    American.
Died in 1988 from a medical condition. The basslines are not an exact copies for obvious reasons, but they are very similar; sounding like 2 of the well known tracks of this singer. Cowbells are very prominent in the tracks, as are shakers.

Thanks. That's why I could'n't leave it unfinished, although I will probably work more on it, so it has a bit more variation.

I was expecting a little bit more power towards the end.
Sounds are a bit raw but I liked it, the mage never disappoints

Very raw, sounds kind of like new wave of 80s steam punk electro synth pop.
    I like it.

Bassed around the older Bobby Orlando stuff, before Stock Aitken Waterman fucked up the sound and made it sound like everything else they ever produced. These were the wankers that started the decline of pop music as we know it. The other tracks>>>>>>>

    damn right.

Did Divine ever pay royalties to Moroder? It never gets far from that judging by the vids.

No. I don't think so. Anyways, Divine was just the singer, it would have been down to Orlando the producer. Orlando did nearly end up with a lawsuit over "Chain Reaction" due to the fact that it sounded so much like New Order's Blue Monday it's unreal. but nothing materialized. That was the last track Orlando produced IIRC and then Pete Waterman got in on the act.
Pre SAW Dead or Alive was gothic punk. This is from their album Sophisticated Boom Boom. The best album they made.
