Hmmm one monitor i have at work had this but i don't remember well, I remember the problem was either the cable or one of the input/output connector.

What is your monitor plugged with? HDMI? VGA or Display Port?

*Thread title edited to include the subject and moved to more appropriate subcategory.

As for the problem you're having, could it be as simple as a bad cable or incorrectly connecting it? Did you do anything in your PC settings that could have caused this? :dunno:.... It would be much more helpful to other members if you at least provided a brand and model of the monitor, plus perhaps add some information about how its connected, what you did prior that may have caused this (etc.), so we can better understand what is going on and offer some suggestions.

If its a new monitor, I would check the manual, then the warranty, call customer service where you bought it and/or the manufacturer to figure out your options.

Could be your refresh rate also. If you are running windows try and boot to safe mode and see if that fixes it.

How old is your monitor, and how much did it cost? Many BenQ monitors are cheap products and only last a few years before they fail.

If it isn't your cable/connector - might be your graphics card's VRAM.

Is it a Video Card ?
Remove it and clean the contacts, also check the extra power connector.

In addition to what was already said, I'd also try a different port on your GPU/monitor. Different cable, different type of cable (HDMI vs display port for example), different port on monitor and GPU. Simple, cheapest stuff first.

Also re seating everything as @GluBloB said would be one of the first things I try too.

    Not a cable issue.

We clearly see square patterns :
    GPU or monitor motherboard

test screen on another computer AND computer on another screen

I have 3 BenQ monitors that are over 10 years old. Used for long periods every day.

A friend of mine had a cheap Beng for around €100, which broke very quickly.
How much did yours cost? Maybe it's just the cheap production.

They were all around 100 Euro. Maybe your friend was unlucky. I don't think you can state that many BenQs fail quickly:wink:

It means trash in my house too. Every Benq product I've ever owned has gone tits up at one time or another!

Have you recently shifted your computer's position, to clean behind it or anything like that? I ask because it sounds a lot like an unseated/damaged video card to me.

In 100% of cases I'd seen pictures like this it was a broken graphics card. It could be bad video RAM or overheating, too.

It would be really helpful if you told us what graphics card, what motherboard, what power supply you've got? Is it a new computer? How old?

First thing I would do is turn off the computer completely (on the PSU), pull out the graphics card, clean the contacts on both GC and motherboard and make sure the GC is seated and connected to PSU properly before turning it on again. Also check the 12V power connector to the card cos it could be starting to melt. The problem could be weak or just bad power supply, too.

p.s. Actually, have you tried the monitor with some other computer, laptop, gaming console if you have one? To eliminate the monitor completely from the "equation".

So it's the graphics card then. All you can do is what I said - turn off computer completely, clean the contacts, clean the fan, check the connector... put it back in etc. It's probably broken, though. Still, it may be overheating due to a dirty fan, it may be getting dodgy power from the PSU, it may be just dirty-corroded contacts even.

Do you have an integrated GPU, too ?
So you can still use your computer.

Like other ppl said earlier, unseat and reseat the GPU card.
    It may be enough.
