...rescue me. I somehow lost the ability to use aftertouch, which as far as I know is not hardwired into the DAW for controllers to use. I have tried unsuccessfully to re-create a working template to achieve the goal but it is still a no go. When it comes to simple things like this I am fairly useless. Even though the DAW registers that it is recieving midi information when I press aftertouchingly, it just doesn't translate into action. So, could someone copy their template and let me use it. Thank you kindly for supporting the mentally handicapped.

 

It's easy to make aftertouch (or any other control) template
- Start a new project with nothing in it.
- Load a 3rd party Vsti
- Browse parameters, locate the aftertouch/modwheel
- Right click the paramater you want to link, choose "link to controller", the remote controll setting popup will appear, make sure both omni and autodetect are selected
- Move your mod wheel or press your key down for aftertouch
- Delete the vsti from the project so its empty again.
- Save the project as a template & close it.

No you have your template ready, to open it :
File -> New from template, select you template with modwheel and aftertouch ready
