Does anyone know how to get the Virus Ti Snow interface like in the images below?

I am watching a tutorial and the guy uses this, but I cant seem to find a way to load this same interface with the init preset. I have tried selecting the Snow, Ti and Ti2 ROMS from the browser, but doesnt change the interface so I am lost. Trying to follow his settings and movements is difficult because it all looks so different. :snuffy:

Is there a setting or skin or something else I am missing to get this GUI? :dunno:

    Thanks everyone!

It is the Access plugin, Windows version, but it is the Snow version of the plugin. The Snow only shows the 4 instrument slots on the left side, where the TI plugin is 16. The TI and Snow versions of the plugin both install with the rest of the software/firmware. The earlier version of the Snow looks sort of like Ultrabeat.

its about time for someone to make a version of it for ostirus (not me, unfortunately, I'm too busy collecting plugins and not making music).

Someone made them long time ago.
I downloaded those in May 2024.
But I didn't tested if they work with the newest version.

RmlUI – New GUI rendering engine & skinning system
    19. August 2025 / dsp56300 / Leave a comment

Version 2.0 of our plugins come with a completely new GUI rendering and skinning system: RmlUI

RmlUI is a UI engine that is loosely based on html / CSS2, but written entirely in C++ and supports hardware accelerated rendering.

Skin developers are encouraged to read the RmlUI Documentation to know how skins have to be developed.

    Existing Skins
There are a lot of skins out there for our plugins and we do want to keep them. That’s why we’ve created a skin converter that converts old json based skins to RmlUI when loading them for the first time.

Note that automated skin conversion might imply subtle differences to the previous look, especially for text rendering. It is meant to be a tool for skin developers to help conversion of the json based skin files to rml/rcss based skins. It is recommended that authors of skins use the automated conversion as a starting point before manual polishing and do a re-release.

If you use a json based skin, ask the skin developer for an update. All skins that are integrated in our plugins have been converted already.

Thanks guys. Yes, the tutorial is very old so he isnt using the OsTirus but the original hardware + plugin control. I am looking for a skin that looks the same as the one in the images I attached so I can quickly and easily follow along in the tutorial. Its the main controls that matter more than the left side panel of instrument slots, I only need 3 for this purpose so whatever.

@Margaret I downloaded those skins and looked inside but they are .json + .png files so because im using "OsTIrus v2.0.2" apparently wont work as of v2 August 2025 :sad::(

I am unclear about conversion for these. I am surprised nobody made or uses skins like the original synths? :dunno:

i dont get why people want that?

so far the UI is still in a big change. So most of the skins, will stop working or have problems, if the creator wont update them.

the skin converter works yes, but the skin might sitll need updates.

Maybe AI can shed some light on the matter:
Hey, no worries—I get the frustration with outdated tutorials and format shifts. OsTirus v2.0.2 (from that August 2025 update) did indeed overhaul the skinning system to use RmlUI (a HTML/CSS-inspired framework), which broke compatibility with the old .json + .png setups from earlier versions. That's why the ones @Margaret shared aren't loading directly. But good news: there's a built-in auto-converter, and the community has your back with updated skins that nail the original Virus TI vibe.

Quick Fix: Auto-Convert Your Existing Skins
    1. Drop the .json + .png files from those downloaded skins into your OsTirus skins folder:
      • Windows: C:\Users\[YourUsername]\Documents\The Usual Suspects\OsTirus\skins
      • Mac: ~/Documents/The Usual Suspects/OsTirus/skins
      • Linux: ~/.local/share/The Usual Suspects/OsTirus/skins (or your XDG_DATA_HOME equivalent)
(Pro tip: If it's a third-party skin, put it in a subfolder named skins_OsTirus for cleaner organization.)
    2. Fire up OsTirus in your DAW. Go to the plugin's menu > Skins > Select the one you just added. On first load, it'll automatically convert the old format to the new RmlUI structure (.rml for layout, .rcss for styles, and reusing your .png assets). It saves the converted version for next time.
    3. If the conversion looks off (e.g., knob positions or text tweaks), reload via Skins > Reload or hit F5 in the plugin window with dev mode enabled (check the menu for "Developer Options" to toggle it). This should get you ~80-90% there without manual editing—focus on the main controls like osc/filter/env sections, and ignore the left panel for now since you only need 3 slots.
The converted skin might not be pixel-perfect (RmlUI handles text and scaling better but can shift layouts slightly), but it's a solid starting point for following the tutorial.

Better Option: Grab an Updated Original-Look Skin
Nobody's slacking on this—the community jumped on v2 skins right away, and there are a few that mimic the classic Virus TI hardware GUI (matrix-style layout, metallic knobs, etc.). The default "VirusTI_Trancy" skin is already pretty close to the original (prioritizing main controls over extras), but for something even more spot-on:

    • Join the DSP563 Discord (the dev/community hub): https://discord.gg/dsMyQAmFKC Once in, go to Server Settings > Channels/Roles (or "DSP563 Community Settings" if prompted) and enable the ostirus-skins-repository channel. It's packed with v2-compatible downloads, including:
      • Virus TI for OsTirus (light gray, Virus Control-inspired—super close to hardware).
      • Dark Virus TI variant (same layout, inverted colors for late-night sessions).
      • A few custom ones with just 3-4 part slots and focused main panels.
Search the channel for "TI2" or "original"—users share direct zips with .rml/.rcss/.png bundles. Installation is the same as above: unzip to the skins folder, select in-menu, done.
If Discord's not your thing, check the Gearmulator GitHub for base files to tweak: https://github.com/dsp56300/gearmulator/tree/main/source/jucePluginData (grab VirusTI_Trancy.rcss as a template and swap in original-style PNG spritesheets if you want to DIY).

Why No Official "Original Synth" Skins Everywhere Yet?
The v2 update was a big leap (faster rendering, better cross-platform consistency), so skin authors are still porting stuff. But the Discord repo has the most action—it's where devs drop updates first. If you attach those tutorial images to a post there, someone might whip up a quick match for the exact layout.

Hit me up if the converter glitches or you need help tweaking a .rcss file (it's CSS-like, so straightforward). You'll be jamming along with the tutorial in no time. What's the tutorial covering, anyway—some classic TI patches?

This is contained in Margaret's link. Or. That's where this was sourced.

    upload_2025-10-27_8-54-12.png

I'm running OSTIRUS v1.4.1 (current AFAIK)

Did you do this? This info is contained in Margaret's download.

The EASY way to find the directory you're supposed to put the files in is to right click the GUI, select 'GUI skin', and select 'OPEN folder ...'

I just did all this out of curiosity so I know it works. :like:

    Success! :drunks:

I put the margaret files into the skins folder but then saw the image inside the download and so created the new folder and also put them inside there. I found it by right clicking the init part 1 and went through the list until one loaded. There were like 6 options and all but one gave popup errors and loaded like the image with a popup saying the skin was converted to the new format. It isnt the 4 part Snow, it has all of them, but everything else looks the same. So now I can follow the tutorial without having to try to find each knob and function on the stock skin, which took me hours just to get a few sounding correctly (for those asking, this is the reason why I wanted the skin, to turn hours of headache into seconds of knob twisting!).

I'll just leave them all in both folders for now because I dont have time right now to check which folder loaded them or if maybe those "legacy" skins came with the v2.0.2 installation? maybe someone else knows the answer.

Anyway im happy it works now so thanks for all the help it saved me so much time!
