I had a feeling something was about to change at Harrison....

    Solid State Logic acquires Harrison

    Some additional possibly relevant info:
CON Pro Audio & Harrison Consoles Form Strategic Alliance

ICON NAMM NEWS 2023 - ICON HARRISON 32CI USB Audio Interface.

No info on ICON or Harrison web sites as of April 18, 2023 for the audio interface. Being that SSL has it's own line of interfaces & controller surfaces, will they continue the ICON/Harrison Alliance?

Honestly, Mixbus was one of the most frustrating DAWs I've ever used. The amount of promises on offer (not to mention the absolutely nonsense "analog" hype) versus how it actually behaved as a general user experience was highly disproportionate and disappointing. With stock plugins alone I logged more crashes and spazzes than anything else I've used (and I've used em all!). If SSL can swoop in with its band of software engineers and improve the functionality of this Ardour-based program, then the Gods may smile yet.

A waste of time and money if they keep the Harrison DAW as it is right now. The worst spend money in my life for the Mixbus 32C DAW. One side benefit though, trying to match the “analogue” feeling of Mixbus in other DAWs made my mixes better! lol

They might just do it.... too much money on the table. Harrison mixbus getting a good SSl makeover and refresh could be a good thing. Instant SSL sound, not having to load 10-20+ instances of the plugin across the mix would be so great.

Does SSL write their own plugins or does Softube do it?

So far v9 has been solid and the new features sound dope!! I can only imagine SSL will just bring them to the top

Definitely an opportunity to one-up UAD with a universal DAW that also has linked features for their plugins & hardware.
One question is, will SSL keep Linux development going while bringing Native plugins to that platform.

I hope they don't release the shitty Harrison plugins under the SSL moniker now ;)

They will mostly likely toss the stock plugins and, maybe refine or replace the add-ons.

Convinced me to stop following Harrison. Barely paid attention to Lonely Rocker. Now I totally avoid that stream.

    Needless controversy. imho.

I bought a legit copy of Harrison Mixbus years ago when I was thinking of going to Linux...worst GUI ever. It collects virtual dust somewhere on my hard drive. If SSL can cannibalize the best parts and build something original from the ground up for both Mac and Linux (fuck Windows), it might work.

Maybe you could try Reaper which runs native in Linux. Works almost like a charm! Unless you dislike Reaper's GUI as well of course.

Harrison site has been quiet since SSL takeover. Hopefully working on improving all aspects including software.
