I'm using EZ CD Audio Converter, it can convert a list of file from a format (including video) to any audio format in any quality (it can be mixed format to), aswell as adding id3v1/v2 in different parameter (like UTF8 or unicode). Very easy to setup the way you want.
You also got the option to rename the file based on the metadata information, and delete the original file after conversion. Also you can rename and tag file without convertion (very usefull to have a consistant naming format in a collection, that's mostly what I use it for, with audio conversion and cd ripping).

I also use Mp3tag which is really great for managing tag information, I know it can be use as a converter too, but never use that part of the software, but if it's like the metadata system, it should be fine too.

just to finish up this thread.

my main concern was the metadata Serato writes to the file as in cue points and loops. Couldn't copy the data from an existing file to a new file. Tried it with kid3 as this app shows all metadata on a file, but as I already said, it didn't work :D

I used Pro Audio Converter as my converter and it really worked nicely.

Thanks to everyone for the input and help :) really appreciate it!

I think Serato put all its data into a separate folder, you should have a Serato folder on the same hardrive your track are (it's a hidden folder so you have to activate the hidden files view - this is on Windows, not sure about how OSX deal with hidden folders/files). All your cue point and data from Serato likes crates and other stuff are in there. I know you can convert those info from Serato to rekordbox or Traktor, but I'm not sure if there is a way to convert them from a video file to its mp3 version :dunno:

Great - now we can look forward to the new series of ReaperMania Breakfast Videos from Kenny Gioia
    • Hi, I'm Kenny Gioia.

    For F*#k's sake Kenny, it's lunchtime already.:guru:

Disclaimer: my poking fun at Kenny's style is based on me thinking he is brilliant, his videos are gold dust, and my grateful meagre knowledge of Reaper would be in the dark ages without him.
    Keep 'em ........ ... .... Koming ... ... ...Kenny. :winker:

Allow me to explain since, you know, I'm a guru on the subject. Though don't know what subject is this.
This is simply an LFO modulating the BPM of his speech.
I know. I know. I'm the man... :disco:

Very impressed by Reaper's toolbox and how well they are using JS/V8 to pretty much just add stuff so fast and in such a compact container.

    BTW, just for future reference:

Opensource VLC Media Player can do pretty much any conversion for files it can read which is most files and it runs on all platforms. You can even script it with BASH or ZSH or whatever terminal environment you run. Command line or window assisted. You could have gone from mp4 to flac in batch by just doing an entire folder and outputting into an other folder.

    https://www.vlchelp.com/convert-video-audio-mp3/

You could have also used the FLAC command line encoder but it would have required a script to go from MP4 to AIF audio to MP3, this could have been done with QT or any equivalent un-packer as FLAC encoder doesn't support A-LAW, uLAW.

Yes, as they told you, Xillisoft Video Converter is a fast and effective option for me. You can also convert other types of files if you need to in the future, it has a wide variety of formats. I usually use it when I have codec problems
