Bruh I passed days trying to understand these screenshots and these things, and I did it, but somehow I missed to answering this reply.

Just reading all the replies you did to my question made me understand it really clear now, manny thanks for the help, nowdays I understand better why it fits so good in the trap music style that I'm trying to do...

As you said, the softclipping add some distortion and it fills up the hi end of the kick even if it's really weak, while at the same time, it keeps the kick sounding the same if I dont go extremelly loud with the gain (even at +5db sometimes the kick still sound not so compressed while the most I add of again the most it distorts the highs).


I've been selecting kicks just by the low-end signal and when I put them on the track I was thinking they sound strange, not because of the kick itself but because I didnt added some other clicking sample to go with it, so, when soft-clippin like this I can make it sound really good because it fills that high end that I was missing of while at the same time it keeps the low frequencies sounding almost the same they was before. I could only hit this same result before if I did a lot of very cirurgical eq and nice sound selection.


Also, when using on the master, if I put a very "low-endy" kick and a not-so-distorted 808, even if I dont side-chain it the softclipping keeps the punch of the kick and the note of the 808 whithout making me lose my headroom (most of the times, sometimes I have to do a little phase alingment to fit the sound).

This is cool because I couldnt achieve this same result of banging kick and feel the 808 note with a normal sidechain, maybe I sidechain too much? haha idk, but anyway, thanks for the help.
