Albino 2 might be cool, I used to use that but it didnt seem very authentic to my ears.
I just downloaded actual Virus samples from Rutrack.. and those sound way better than anything vst, (according to my ears) so again I think using the actual classic hardware or hardware samples is the way for me to go. I might be able to load those in a sampler or something, doesnt have Kontakt instruments tho, which sucks, its just a bunch of wavs. Those samples sound EXACTLY like the 2001-2002 supersaw leads of the day and stuff..

@ Nadir.. Thanks!..Yes.. A new era my friend. :) (hint* i dont care if you are being sarcastic or not, i still enjoyed it)

Totally set the standard back in the day IMHO. I still use it often.

You realize the virus is just a metal box with a microchip in it - nothing analog at all.
Nothing one can't do with vstis.

Slow down the chase. Stop blaming VSTis, VSTs, your DAW's "audio engine", your audio interface's DA/AD converters, cables, active monitors, etc.

I was once there myself, and couldn't figure out why others' tracks sounded so clear, loud and "punchy". So I went to study sound engineering to learn. Got the chance to record/mix/master in a million dollar studio, with racks and racks full of hi-end gear. Surprice - my stuff still sounded like shit! But I gradually became better at it.

Through the years I know that it was ME - I didn't know everything (or at least didn't know enough). Therefor I blamed my tools.

I never said your sound was shit. I said my sound used to be shit. :)
I think you are twisting things around. I and many people here have suggested tons of synths with which you can make 1998-2002 sounds with. Here's one more free one:

I doubt your stuff was ever shit. :) you have good keyboard skills, meaning that i can tell you probably play keyboard well! thats way more important than good speakers anyway. HAVING A GOOD MELODY IS 95% OF THE BATTLE IMO. and if a person (me lately lol) has no creativity at the moment the track will be lacking..or i tried to add to many sounds and it became too crowded, either that and or the melody was just too boring, and needed more variation .

Voyager is a 4 oscillator subtractive synth.
    • 4 Band limited oscillators (mipmapped wavetable)
    • Hard Sync/FM capable and "mirror" oscillator in each one to create PWM effects
    • 2 LFOs
    • 2 Filters with 2 different waveshapers (sine/tan)
    • Sample accurate MIDI event handling
    • Pitch envelope
    • 32-Band stereo vocoder (Can be used as insert effect if your VST host supports it)
    • Stereo Chorus and Echo FX units

    • I HAVENT TRIED IT YET BUT I WILL :) THANKS MAN, SORRY FOR FLIPPING OUT LOLZ

    No problem!
Try it out! It has a few preset banks in it aswell (some very 90's sounding). Voyager VSTi was coded by the talanted Arguru (R.I.P) back in the days. He later went to co-found DiscoDSP.

Voyager 1.1 still holds up, if you are looking for these kinds of sounds.

very interesting. right off the bat (still havent transfered it in my studio as im typing on my laptop) i could tell that might be a old school style good synth (its gives me the impresssion it might have that raw sound ive been craving lately, as new music as in DUMBSTEP doesnt do it for me at all, anything produced from 98-02 was far supieror in terms of well general coolness, and plus it seems like this new generation love the limit the hell out of everything..uhh frustrating lol)

Foggy - Come Into My Dream both club and regualr cut for example now thats great. the remixes sucked compared to the original.

more cool tracks to chech out from that era :

Denki Groove - Niji - talla2xlc remix (one of my all time favorites and Mindscape - Genetic talla2xlc remix)

I have alot of harder to find (if you were only a teen back then like me and werent into the music as much) tracks on my torrent page from that era. they are all good tracks in my opinion and hand picked by me. :)

..I even have some super rare stuff that doesnt even exist anywhere anymore (like the stuntfighter main theme that game doesnt even exist anywhere else on the internet)

I have FROGGY MIX in flac/wav to !! (BOTH THE RARE CANADIAN VERSION AND THE OTHER VERSION WITH RAZZMATAZZ ON IT TO ;)
