Did you know that it's possible to create your own skins for kiloHearts plugins? And that there's already a whole bunch of skins existing?

I don't think this is widely known, so I'm posting this here. It's a "feature" that isn't officially supported by kiloHearts, but they don't mind anyone using it, quote: "Our plugins have a limited and unsupported skinning feature that you are welcome to play around with."

Here's how it works:
In C:\ProgramData\Kilohearts (Win) or /Library/Application Support/Kilohearts (Mac) there's a file colors.conf (EDIT: not by default) that you can "manipulate" to tell the kHs plugins what colors to use. It's even possible to create your own background for PhasePlant, MultiPass, SnapHeap from a picture file.

(you need to remove the fuckG00gle from the link. Had to do it because they planted a massive, ugly and totally useless preview into the post. Another reason for me to officially hate that company.)

I collected all the existing skins from the Discord channel, well over 50 I think. Many of them are pretty awesome, some others are more experimental and for fun I guess (SuperMario, you'll see...).

Please be aware that this whole thing isn't a supported feature. Use at your own risk.

EDIT> seems I didn't explain it correctly before. The colors.conf file doesn't exist by default, so forget about the backup thing I said before. If you want to revert to default you can use the "original" file included in the pack, or use the one posted later in this thread.

Maybe I should add that if you want to use picture files for custom backgrounds you need to place them into the Kilohearts folder as well. And it's advisable to use large picture files, otherwise the background pic will be cut off when using large GUI sizes

File is not exists by default, you should put colors.conf in this directory and Khz products will use colors from file instead of embedded defaults

Use Kilocolor Website to easily color your Khs plugins.

Kilohearts Color Theme Creator (emgomusic.com)
Just save the file in C:\ProgramData\kiloHearts!

 

The first one should be in the "linusbergs" folder.
All those skins were posted without any names or something on the Discord channel. Had to separate them into folders not to mess it up with all the colors.conf files.

Turns out there was some misleading info in it.

 

I finally got to use this.
As none of the skins really fit my needs, I used the program to create my own, and It's very useful. Thank you.

As I don't see very well, white letters on dark background are difficult to read for me, so I created a clear skin with black letters.
The only difficult thing to achieve is that the upper square with presets names and the save menu stays black anyways so black cannot be use, I had to find a semi-dark color to trick it.

I'll post my 2 skins later.

I've now downloaded Kilocolor-master zip file from githup, but it's meant to be used in a webpage not directly in a computer...
There is no exe into it.
