    Hey guys

can you inform me a bit on these waveforms

which are most appropriate for bass...for pads...and for leads?

or there's not a general rule?

    Thank you

Us describing them isn't gonna help you a whole lot. I suggest you look up syntorial.

Best thing is to play with them and look at others presets and see how they use them, even trying to replace them.

Generally though this is how I see them.

Saws are dense, use filters to tame them. Great for leads.

Squares are like saws but hollow. They are great for bass. Try using two, one an octave lower than the other for great bass sounds.

Pulse waves are square waves but skewed, you can adjust this skew. As a rule you can make one sound gritty one way or if you skew it the other way, soft.

Sine waves on there own are great for complimenting a bass patch, use them to give a solid basis for your bass sounds. Layer them with squares or saws.

Triangles are like slightly grittier sine waves. When you get into Frequency Modulation you will use these a lot to modulate sine waves and make gritty Dubstep basses that scream Skrillex.

Pads are any waveform with a slow attack and slow release. This give them that swelling sound. Add a gentle plucky arp and you have a pad.

Hope this help a little. You can watch tutorials until your eyes bleed, but always remember your best weapon is your ears, try, experiment and if you like a sound, then it's a good sound. Don't let people tell you a sound sucks, if you like it it's good.

use these waveforms for FM synthesis as carrier, its heaven.

just get a synth and play with the waveforms, will take anyway some while to understand, which is for what kind of sound and how to use the other effects to shape what you want.
