"This means illegal products will not perform as well as legal ones, if at all."

To me, it sounds like an invitation :D

I don't care about his stupid plugins, but from the moment I've read his message I'm cheering for R2R. What a douche. I hope they will crack them all and personally call him out in the NFO. Bonus points if they point out any flaws in the code.

To see a VST effect go from $500 to $49 back to $500 on their webshop randomly throughout the year is the reason why I am a proud member of our sister site. Currency fluctuations have zero to do with price action like that.

So he comes into a thread full of vaporware computers with a takeaway that dreamware computers must be punished because vaporware is stuck holding wavy water cups.

People think I'm stressed, but I'm not stressed at all.
Honestly we've been waiting for a crack for years, and it's a matter of time. It could be at the end of the year, or in a few days.
I want to make one thing clear: there is no such thing as software that cannot be pirated or cracked. It is the very mechanism of programming that makes it difficult to protect. If there is a valid serial number, the code will be somehow decrypted and working, so there is no way in the world to protect it with this mechanism (apart from the use of digital signatures as is common in the Apple world, in fact notarized software is impossible to crack, because somehow it would receive a ban in case of compromise).
That said, for me the problem is not the crack itself, the crack will always have its reasons to exist. The point is about the user and his decision.
My point of view, if you want to go the route of using cracked software, that's fine, but you will not be able to use our service under any circumstances.
Our software is complex and requires constant maintenance. It also requires user support in many cases, and requires constant updates.
Our updates are incremental, our prices are now very low, and our support has practically zeroed out tickets, which means that all of our installations are working, or in the worst case we have made a refund in case of a malfunction, or we have found other ways to solve the problem.
So, I turn my reasoning to the user: if you can do without all this, there's no problem. On the contrary, by binging on updates coming from the internet with no user support, no continuous updates, he will come to the conclusion that he needs to have legitimate support.
I say something very basic. if you don't have these issues, then you are not a professional in the industry. An industry professional cannot afford to sit idle, or not open a song when work towards a client is involved.

you don't have to appreciate the software we sell. We sell software. If you don't like it, move on. Life is too short

quite on the contrary, that text explains what happened and what will happen.
I think people need to be warned, because they often do some actions without knowing the consequences.
In the case of nebula, we've received literally thousands of requests to restore the computer. This took time, and left a lot of people with their computers down while we got things in order. At a time like this, it could take a very long time indeed.
Now, you can do without having updates or maintenance. The professional world can't afford it though, because it means not opening a song sometimes. So it's our job to inform, so one can make the best decision.
It is important to note one point of all this: if you choose the path of adopting crack, you have to maintain that path. No problem for us, but when there will be an update that fixes a problem (and we have many) or improves the sound, you must patiently wait for it. In our experience, people at some point want to start mixing the illegitimate stuff with the legitimate stuff (like free software, or whatever), but from the moment this is not possible, they start contacting our support and end up in the worst cases formatting the machine.

we are humans, creating software for humans.
    There is no "personality disorder".
Last time we were inundated with requests to restore machines with illegitimate products.
    Better to be aware

The software we produce has continuous updates and improvements. Software that falls behind in version is bound to have lower performance, more bugs, and so on.
This year we have made thousands of updates to our software, almost on a daily basis.
Users are hardly aware of this, because the update is incremental and minimal.
As soon as a problem occurs, we fix it.

We are normal people, not rich, with the problems that everyone has.
We have a mortgage, child and so on.
We are all but narcissistic. The only strange thing we do, is to produce software for the audio market instead of the banking, or insurance sector. In the end it's software.
Softwre, by definition, has a licensing and protection mechanism, apart from some specific cases. That usually exists because you're trying to sell it, and you're trying to sell it to improve it and produce more software.
I'll point out that the opensource world has produced a lot of software, but not all of it. Today you talk about our software just because it exists, even though you may not like it or need it. So you also need to have companies that produce it, and motivate their users to buy it. In the end, all of this is used to pay the bills.
The world that is often described here would assume that we don't exist. I understand that you may not like my software, but think about how poor the world would be with things that don't exist and that you may not even know about.

I still want to check the last cracked Nebula though. I wonder what Dr Farina would think about this

PS. I also still am against personal insults

Still, you punished legit users with the Nebula price increase when it was cracked, it sends a different message.
A price decrease would send a positive message.

nebula was not cracked. It is just a distribution without libraries. Nebula is unprotected.

This is why people need to 2 computers, they don't want drm or other things restricting their workflow. They don't want to be punished for being in the process of going legit. Buying your software should not be frowned up. It takes time to go fully legit but people want to without slowing their progress.

Why would you want your clients to be held back from finishing their projects in time so they don't get paid and therefore they can't buy your software? This makes people look for alternative software when they would rather keep your plugin running in their project like they originally wanted.

You would really just have somebody that only has one computer to replace the plugins they bought from you and move to another brand because they are in the middle of full demoing another one of your products that they could potentially like and buy in the future from you?

Why would you force someone to stick to warez in that case? The people buying your software may want to buy more of your software and they should matter to you so you should not pry the products they already bought from them because they are considering more.

almost all our software is extremely cheap in our shop. Last time they bought a reverb library for 29 eur, with loyal discounts someone had for 13. 2nd market is full of our products sold at a very cheap price, like 40 or 50 eur. During black friday our prices are LOW. And they are legit. You support the developer, you receive support if something goes wrong and you have infinite updates, quickly, and continuously.
    Simple like that
