I was just wondering if there is a simple answer to this simple issue.
if i have to raise volume alone ( and say i don't have a space on the track fader) what do peeps do?
do i just use an amplifier plugin? i am still not so up on compression etc. so was just wondering maybe the answer here is that simple: raise the volume or amplify ( and what plugins do that?)
    thanks...

after you mastering the track it will sound high in volume . you can using limiter

  4. Lower all the other tracks.

If you've maxed out gain on your faders maybe your 'in' gain or recording volume is way too high. I could be wrong though...

Look for a gain plugin aswell, that should help if you need to raise or lower volume.

Either as Fudsey Plange said or route the channel to a subgroup as raise the volume there (maybe even with a leveling plugin).

You are obviously mixing too loud.
    Learn proper gain-staging.
    Turn everything else down.
    Subtractive mixing is key.

You have 1680dB of internal processing dynamics. Use it!

You can apply a subtractive mindset to both mixing and to volume automation. Thinking "turning/automating loud things down" instead of "turning/automating weak things up" will take you faaaaaar.
Try to shift your mind to a more subtractive approach, generally. EQ, automations, volume, etc. The results will become better, I promise.

Look into callibrating your system to Bob Katz K-12 (or K-14) system, and you will never have to look at (or mix "into") a meter ever again.

ableton has utility tool with gain knob....studio one has gain trim knob besides volume fader...
    plugin:
    Sonalksis FreeG

but lower all other tracks in gain like fudsey said....its maybe like mj said way to hot recording...

calibrate youre monitors and mix quit...check out room correction for head phones

the volume faders are more for arrangment than for mixing...

and btw for more confuse : analog emu plugins must be trim down to -18dbfs in common

I am wondering exactly what you mean here.
Do you mean you have run out of headroom (the meter is already too close to 0db),
or do you mean the fader is all the way up and the meter is still low?

But what is "it's up"? The slider? the meter?
And what is "output"? What he hears in the mix (and the meter is high)?
or .... the meter itself is low?
If the slider is all the way up and the meter is low, the source is to low.
Is this channel a plugin or audio?
Haha, maybe i am confused, but those questions come to me...

as I coming from OCD language by Myself , than I think that he mean
that he push the master slider to the top and the level of his track is in low volume level ,
or he trying to achieving that his song will sound like CD or Main Stream tracks .
if this his case then he should Mixing/Mastering the track.

    he should clear his question.

I think the topic you're looking for is gain staging my friend. Look up gain staging and read and watch some tutorials on how to do it. Very simple once you understand but disastrous if done improperly.

have you tried going back to the mix to increase your clip volume this will increase the volume on the tracks with affecting the faders, but maybe google gain staging..

You are obviously in need of the Spinal Tap amp that goes to eleven.

I assume your problem is that for whatever reason one of your tracks is very quiet. You raise the mixer fader but it's still not loud enough. This can happen. For example, FL Studio faders go up only like 6db.

The solution? Normalize it. Normalize function raises the gain of the audio track so the highest peak hits zero db. Basically every DAW comes with a normalize function.

If the track is still too quiet for the most part, it means you have nasty peaks in your track, too much dynamic range. You can either isolate the peaks and lower their volume manually by doing volume automation or you can use a limiter and a compressor if you need to. If you still need an extra volume knob for whatever reason (if you are for example trying to raise aux reverb level, the plugin doesn't have a proper gain button and don't want to print the track so you can normalize it), use whatever you have. Most compressor plugins for example have a makeup gain knob. Volume is volume, doesn't really matter what you use.
