Does anyone know of a simple plugin that does as follows:

Syncs with host temp, loads a sample, and loops it with crossfade that can be adjusted?

It's super simple, I just want something, so like if I want a continuous drone of the sample, will just load it and play automatically when I press play in the transport.

Various DAWs have different solutions built in, but I want something DAW agnostic.

It's so simple, I know it must exist. There's stuff that plays on being triggered by note input, but something that just starts with sync transport would be ideal, it's almost like nobody will make this because it's so simple . . .

It has to be out there, somewhere.

    Endless WAV

Software for creating sustain loops in WAV files (8, 16 and 24 bit) with loop mix, auto loop, real-time crossfade, fade and cut functions. Simply mark the desired loop area in the waveform by holding down the two keys CMD+SHIFT or CTRL+SHIFT - the program does the rest!
This program is designed for working with many individual samples in extensive multi-sample sessions. Therefore, most functions can also be accessed using keyboard shortcuts.

I have both of those, Expert Sleepers doesn't sync with the DAW. I could use Endless Wav or Sample Robot to loop the actual .wav, but the problem is still there, I would still have to load it in a one shot loader of some kind or sampler, then continuously have the trigger note held to play the loop.

It would just be convenient to find something that does this when synced with the transport. Bidule has a loop bidule, but without crossfading, Audio Damage Enso can do it, but you could only crossfade between sections, not just the beginning and ending of the file you've loaded into the buffer for some reason . . .

Have you tried the ones from Melda?

I think you may have a workflow thing in mind, more than only a plugin.

You want to play a DAW project, have a looper on one track sample another track in realtime, load it, and then let you do whatever with it, and it on another mixer channel strip? And all without stopping DAW playback?

What about SugarBytes Looperator or Ghost Note Audio Infinite Loop? Arturia Fragments?

I'll check MSuper Looper, I know I briefly messed around with it and it seemed mostly for live looping, but it might do this.

It's because I use Bidule and Bidule can have as many sync Transports as you want, at different BPM, that can be linked, so having a looper with Crossfade that syncs to the transport become very desirable in the context.

I'll have to try fragments, as well.

I think picking a Looper plugin is almost like how slicing samplers are to me. Most of them will do 90% of what you want, but they all have their developer's own idea about the workflow and other smaller details. Those little details are what make something seemingly perfect be completely useless for what you wanted to use it for. So you test a bunch, pick the one closest and figure out a few workarounds, and hope you bump into something closer later on.

Fragments is great either way. It is supposed to be something of a recreation of the Hologram Electronics Microcosm granular guitar pedal. "Heavily influenced" might be more accurate.

Here are 2 more plugins that I haven't tested:

Loopmix by Audiomodern is a creative loop remixer that transforms loops into new sounds. It offers features to slice, reorder, pitch and remix up to 6 loops simultaneously, allowing seamless looping https://audiomodern.com/shop/plugins/loopmix/

Looperator by Sugar Bytes slices audio inputs at the transients and manipulates the slices with various effects. It offers tools for creating rolls, loops and stutter effects that facilitate seamless looping https://sugar-bytes.de/de/looperator

It turns out MSuperLooper does this, for some reason, when I tried it a while ago, the drag and drop doesn't work, but I can use the import .wav function under settings, then it does it.

my prior guess was that you wanted to have daw project open, and lets say a guitar channel you could play into; but then this looper on a new channel able to sample from the other track, and then available for live triggering of the loop. Some that I looked at even seem like you could do that. You would be able to capture the drone sound source but continue playing.

if you are ok with opening a pre-recorded sample into a sampler plugin instance, it would open up a lot more options. You could just drop in an audio plugin after it like Fragments, or that Infinite Looper plugin; or you could even put a Midi FX pattern sequencer like Seqund in front of the sampler plugin and have endless options for triggering and even writing CC parameter automations. Some audio plugins will even create interesting synth drones from very little original signal starting with the sample.

Most of the live looping I see, seem to be done by guitarists with various pedals.

Yeah, I was talking about using a pre-recorded sample, I just needed a plugin that synced with the host, SuperLooper works pretty good. It's one of those things where what I wanted was so simple, it was almost impossible to find.

SuperLooper is pretty good, you can have up to 16 outputs that each track can be routed to, plus there's a whole FX matrix that seems to contain most of the Melda effects that can be loaded and modulated right from SuperLooper.
