Having wasted months on Ample Guitar SC I bit the bullet and I am now trying
Shreddage 3 Stratus. Ample is just too thin sounding where as Stratus seems to be fuller.

I am working on a track that needs 16th note funk style picking with the odd 32nd picks too.

In shreddage 3 I am using the snapshot "Clean Blues" with no eq or fx on the track at all yet as I am still getting to grips with Stratus.

When playing I am hearing some weird harmonics or resonances happening under the picked notes.

For this style of picking (funk picking) the tone should be ultra clean and very warm.

I have tried messing and playing with every knob and control in the GUI but nothing gets rid of the noises I hear.

If anyone has any suggestions on how to get rid of it I'd be grateful.

(NO learn a real guitar or a pay for a player please)

These are the setting from Stratus GUI

Click on the 'Console' tab at the very bottom of the instrument and check the right hand side. Disable the effects you don't want. I'm guessing you're talking about the kind of springy reverb (last slot).

Sounds right to me. I just hear guitar and the spring verb. In a mix it should sound great. I usually run the Shreddage guitars 100% dry and through a better amp sim than they provide in the plugin though.

Sounds like the picking isn't too clean with some hits to adjacent strings. If those extra notes aren't in the midi file that's probably a sloppy sampling which isn't unheard of when it comes to Shreddage series

    So this is interesting.

If I use a different snapshot such as Stratus Funk Clean, the noises are gone but having looked at, and tried very control in Clean Blues I am unable to work out what in that snapshot is adding the noises.

Here's some powerchords (LOL) from another Shreddage library. Whoever played, recorded and then okay'd this for the library was high as fvck being fully deaf too. So some unwanted notes sounding in some picking samples aren't something to puzzle over. It's just the way things were recorded.

    Thank you.

However, it is something to puzzle over if a super clean sound is required.

Yes, if your into rock or metal that going through an amp sim that will add distortion anyway then dirty samples (or presets) will only add
to the character of the sound but Strats are known for being very clean and sweet sounding, and this is important in jazz and funk.

Shreddage guitars have release samples that can be annoying in certain contexts. I don't hear anything wrong in your example but that may be what's bugging you. Go into the TACT panel and turn down the pitched and unpitched release samples, and maybe the rakes too. But bear in mind, guitars and drums have noises that make them sound odd soloed that disappear in mixes but keep them sounding natural. If you get the solo instrument too perfect by itself it may be sterile in the mix.

Does setting Hand Position (first tab) between frets 1-4 fix it?

I agree with Trurl. You may get rid of release noises in the TACT panel. By modifying the setup, you can also lower them so that the playing sounds natural enough.

the problem is probably that you have rake picking enabled

I usually end up running the complete no-FX, totally dry unmodified guitar sound thru something like TH-U. You can dial up whatever is needed ambiance/tonality/warmth wise there and avoid trying to make the sampler do that kind of thing.
