Hey guys !! We all love our basses, right?
So we could share our love by showing photos of our basses, and explaining their qualities and limitations.

This is a Maruszczyk elwood 5A , made at the beginning of the 2000 by Adrian Maruszczyk.
At that time he was making very heavy basses, and that's the only reason why I finally sold it. But this is one of the best basses I ever had. It sounded always good no matter the amp, and very comfortable to play. The electronic was good , precise and reliable, and almost no noise beside its a single coil pickups.

Adrian is doing this model today, but much lighter.
He is doing a lot of different models and all his basses are great, but not too expensive.

'shirley' the shergold marathon has lived with me since 1980.
She never complained, even when I lost her serial number plate that covered her truss rod access.
    instruments should always be named.

For this kind of bass I prefer my G. Loomis rod with a Daiwa reel. My Kubicki doesn't like water.

5 string: Ibanez SR705, bartolini MK1 (preamp removed, changed with master volumen, blend and tone switch with on-off-on (0.33uf and 0.47uf))
4 string: Dune, seymour duncan SP2, STK-J2b (volume for each and tone 0.33uf) (custom bass, originally Cort Action PJ, completely overhauled by me for fun (paint, hardware, electronics))

Dune is my first bass and it has immeasurable sentimental value, it has great playability and it's really decent instrument. :)
Ibanez is my weapon of choice for any genre I want to play, it has everything that I need and after so many years, I simply don't need another bass. Even I'll have to buy another one soon, simply because I don't want anything to happen to him on my gigs... And from my experience, it'll probably be another Ibanez :D

just to mention, both have excellent set-up (done by me and judged by others ) elixir stainless steel, and decent amount of working hours :)

    P.S.
@rhythmatist that Uke bass is also on my "must have" list

Here is my bass. It's a very classical sounding one, but it's got a very unique tone.

You will love it It's hard to get used to the scale, but it's like playing a super slinky made of gummy bears. I can make mine sound almost like a standup or do a big fat reggae tone.

They are lovely basses. I traded a fretted Kala for the Kingman I have today. The thing I miss the most is its portability. No more breaking my back to rehearsals and the occasional gig where other players didn't frown upon it. Now my Steinbergers are a second best for portability.
Agreed. Great bang for the buck. Now, I'd love to try those newer versions with Markbass preamps.
    Beautiful bass.

Ok, some of you may laugh, but this is my latest achievement (just startet 5 weeks ago), costs less than possible, but is really playable.

Comapred to the cheap basses you could find in the late 90s and early 2000s, entry basses of today have an amazing quality. Deans are good instruments for the money. The tone might not compare to higher end instruments, but the relationship of price and quality is unbelievable. Nice buy.

Ok, I shall name it Felicia. Here's me, Felicia, and Fluff the plush toy, pretending to be something besides "just a drummer". I think I cleaned up the trash after I saw this photo. :drummer:

Twin Danelectros. Flatwound on the left, roundwound right. The guitarist's bass of choice, these lightweight/shortscale Chinese knockoffs make great players when setup correctly and meticulously, although they lack some of the stability found (and heard) in their American predecessors. My other bass is a Höfner 500/1 (violin) bass, 1965, left-handed, strung for RH. I'll put its picture up when it's back from my friend's house. I'm not a bass player.

i think Felicia is a fine name and Fluff seems very attentive, but how's Fluff when Felicia stops singing?

Fluff is the wonder dog. People wonder why he never moves. Or wanders.
