Anyone upgrade to windows 11? If so, did you have any software issues with plugins and daws?

I dont have any serious problem, to be honest it feels just like windows 10, if you want the new look upgrade, if youre fine with the old look then stay on windows 10

    NO!

Unless you want to be a beta tester and paid by Microsoft, there's absolutely no reason to do so. You already get less performance from your CPU with W10 than with previous Windows. Each Windows upgrade is a downgrade, actually. I'm utterly serious and I've done tests with Reaper. Even W8 was a downgrade from W7, and W7 was a downgrade from XP.

Microsoft is full of shit, just like any corporation, and you should do your own tests if you don't believe me or other websites and Youtube videos that are available.

    Cheers!

Never change a running system (without need)
I don't see any improvements in functionality compared to W10. And there are always problems with an "upgrade"* to a new Windows version.

If you can't resist, please do at least a proper backup before you "upgrade". Or better test it on a spare computer or in a virtual environment.

*) Like @SineWave I think every iteration of Windows is more like a downgrade with cosmetic changes in terms of sheer computing power. IDK for whom there are improvements in usability since XP, maybe gamers, housewives or children?

This topic has already been covered in other threads recently. As pointed out by myself & others, hold off for a year or so. This will give others a chance to develop solid optimization guides as Microsoft works out the bugs.

There are Intel based laptops being held back from production due to performance issues with Windows 11. Then there is the AMD incompatibility issue that is being worked on.

Microsoft has admitted that Windows still has vulnerabilities & possible security issues.

Is Windows 11 just a pig in a blue dress & lipstick? You decide...

i guess the question you should be asking is DO I NEED TO UPGRADE to WIN 11.................if it aint broke dont fix it, stay with 10 and wait a few months until they sort out the bugs and there are loads of bugs right now.

although people usually consider me Windows hater, I'll try to give some unbiased point of view:

right now Windows 11 is basically Windows 10 with added bloat and certain design changes which will undoubtedly annoy current Windows 10 users,
that said, you shouldn't expect any major problems nor improvements, so it all comes down if you can afford and want to beta-test the new system,
for me personally, I'm already testing the system (also the latest developer Insider builds, which are step ahead from consumer W11 releases), but I am by no means upgrading any of my current Windows systems to this latest release just because I haven't found any meaningful change/improvement to justify time and potential hiccups from upgrading,
as of today, there is no reason to hurry into upgrading, unsurprisingly Microsoft remains supporting Windows 10 for few more years, so you don't need to be troubled with known security vulnerabilities being left out from Windows 10 updates cycle
    :chilling:

here's few points on the topic:

Upgraded. No technical issues at all.

    But ....

Win 11 GUI is the worst shit I ever experienced on a Windows system. Wtf Microsoft!?!?!?!?!?!

1 simple example that shows the whole picture in 1 sentence.

"The taskbar is not moveable" :suicide:

it feels like an acustica audio GUI.
" What ? You want to use the GUI for productivity reasons?"
"No, my friend, this GUI is to look at. Not to work with".

Do you have another drive the same size as your system drive? Yes, then clone it and try it out for yourself. That way if you do not like it, replace with the other.

I see more and more articles appearing on the security and TPM 2 - Every one of them other than manufacturers are saying it is bullshit to cover the fact that MS Windows is the most hacked operating system in history, and that they really should have fixed the security within the O/S.
There's more, but that seems to be fairly common. Those of you who use Rufus the free USB boot creator, check out his blog. He tears it apart.

    Yeah I know that.
    Tried it.
Do that and watch the shitty win 11 animation of the start menu popping out from the bottom of your screen. And if you use 2 screens you have to do it twice, but then it is not showing all windows of the screens in the taskbars. It is a total mess if you want to move the taskbar.

Context menu. I needed a second party software to get the standard context menu (right click) back. Who the fuck needs the new one? It is fucking unbelievable. Yeah, I swear a lot about the win 11 GUI. It is really a pile of dog shit.

By changing it to 02 it tries to the right and 04 to the left.
That tells you why MS did not make moving the taksbar available to left or right and not accessible to the normal user because it does not scale correctly and gives you a security warning

Microsoft GUI has become a shitfuck.
I am only hoping Open Shell works with it.
    And Easy Context Menu.
And all the other things i have had to use to counteract the shitfuck of Windows GUI "evolution".

Why should you install Windows 11 if you don't like it?

I agree, but IMHO all windows version are betas even the old ones. They seem to never get the serious bugs out. LOL
Nothing like Unix / Linux for a serious OS.

The same reason I installed Windows 7 even though I didn't like it.
I wanted newer software and better hardware that would not run on XP.
Eventually I will probably use Windows 11 on my main machine & DAW, but not for some years yet.
I'll install it on another drive to play with and curse.

Are you still using DOS? Why not?

yes, i do recommend upgrading to LINUX.
if needed, its a good time to install dual boot, and you can keep your music OS on the back end. very happy with this result.
no, i dont see any need for 11 here, what i have runs any programs i need or want
