I am still on Omnisphere 1 :) I use it in all my projects as my main synth.

Just do a youtube search for Omnisphere Demo. You'll able to decide for yourself.

  3. I would have to buy the box version at a music store as I still to this day do not and will not use credit cards so cannot purchase things like this online. It is also too big for me to download because of of our IP contract. I guess I would buy it from a store.

Omnisphere is like a crossbreed of an actual Synth with oscillators mixed with a rompler. Almost like say Sylenth Meets Nexus. Only 10 times better. Although, me personally, prefer an actual synth. Omnisphere is beyond dope. It's just the biggest CPU eater I ever came across. I'll pass until they made more updates.

    Omnysphere is evil... stay away!

i spent 3 weeks with it, and there was no real connection with the instrument... browsing presets, loading some samples, playing a few chords, and than again... browsing, loading and a few plings... creativity ZERO, songs composed ZERO
I felt like hypnotized in front of the monitor ...like a zombie

buy a Rhodes or an old piano, or a stringed instrument... some tools, and have fun tuning it and keeping it in shape... build a phisical connection with the instrument, feel the hammers bouncing... You know what i mean...

Play some "normal" music, not that evil electronic voodoo :)
Use Your laptop to record and mix, but play on a real thing.
I think, we are drifting too far away from what music is :dunno:

a sound of a real string is infinite... a sound from (in this case) Omnisphere is binary

You have the option to try before you buy available. I would do that if I was in your situation. You will be spending lots of time browsing through presets.
Sound wise and variety, it's great. I can assure you that you will find what you are looking for if you use presets or if you program your own sounds. I also could say that you are not missing a whole lot if you decide not to buy it. There are versatile alternatives that don't require a huge space of your HD and less CPU demand.

I can't live without it. It finds itself on every track. If it doesn't i find excuses as to why it should lol. Yes, if you have the cash buy it!

Totally agree. For granular stuff i would prefer Padshop. Much more possibilities compare to poor Omnisphere granular option. For wavetables - massive/Serum. For supersaws access virus/dune2/Lush101.

So how would i spend my 500$?

    Padshop ≈ 90$
    Serum ≈ 190$
    Dune2 ≈ 180$
    Beer ≈ 40$

Already listed. For the same price you can get true outstanding sound design possibilities.

the latest update has an EDM library.

If you buy it, you get updates without worrying if it will mess up your system or install like some cracked versions do.

I bought v1 right after release. "The power synth" was used 0 times. Maybe if i was a horror or art house composer... But.. No. I will buy v2 only if i will use it at least a couple times. Pretty fair, i think.

    Useless edm library btw.

    Teach me master!!!!

EDIT: No wait, I assumed you were talking about a different processor that could help out. Yeah, I've used Diva. Way better on my CPU than Omnisphere. And even that has its moments.

Lol. I have an Intel i7. Ironically, not enough for the type of work I do.

Almost everything is able to be modulated with Omni2. 6 LFOs per patch. 28 filter algorithms. Wavetable/granular synthesis. I fail to see how this doesn't compare nicely to other synthesizers. It sounds great--and I own an Access Virus C.

Would love to have it too :bleh: plus, as I just read in other post, it also includes the libraries of the v1 and Atmosphere so if you have both as I do it would be great to have all these things together with the tons of new things that comes with v2.

To be honest, I hate to say it but I can't even remember which revision. I had got it a few years back. Like back in 2012. My shit say on the computer Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-2600K CPU @ 3.40Ghz
    16 gigs of ram, Windows 10 64-bit

I make film score shit, dubstep, r&b, a lot of real live instrument shit either with my guitar or bass or my massive library in Kontakt, a lot of real time processing. I'm using a Focusrite Scarlett 6i6.

I just recently (LIKE TODAY) realized I could change the kontakt libraries from DFD to sampler (which loads it all to RAM). I was using FL Studio 12 predominately throughout my career. But I'm contemplating on making a switch to Ableton. I tested it out today and it seems to run smoother than FL. Which was hard for me to admit.

    Pretty old but still good.
Try Studio One 3. It has one of the best freeze option for instrument/audio tracks. And yes, even ableton live much more cpu friendly than fl.
