    The situation
We are in 2017. EDM mainstream and industry is very full. Spotify and other official music streaming channels deeply changed the way of spread music. Moreover people are REALLY lazy: normally they want to listen online or easy download the file in High quality.

Me, you, and all people in this website and other "common" people
We make dance music (for istance), we usually upload it in Soundcloud and it works for other producers and Dj, they download it using fangates and support us. But Soundcloud is a "specific website". It doesn't attract common people like your girlfriend that usually listen music directly from Spotify and watch videos on youtube.
They go 100% mobile. Nobody use computer for music except for producer and DJs.

What you're going to do? Where would you upload your music for online streaming? (example: small video on youtube?)
How to spread your mp3 file efficiently through social networks (example: Dropbox link?)

    Thanks!

    i don't understand what u want.

spreading your own music was never easier.

if you wanna release something there are the usual suspects:
    iTunes, spotify, beatport.....

if you wanna just spread it for free:
    youtube, soundcloud

yes, and spreading shit was never easier as well. and yt is full of it ;)
I think Highdom wanted some hints, where it's most effective to post to find the right audience. He's not so interested in the more "pros" one finds on soundcloud.
Your'e right, it's easy to spread, but difficult to set himself apart from these stuffed mainstream channels.

why: because you told me not to!
before you listened to phone: Youtube
what you wanted to listen to: ..amm Bruce Springsteen - Dancing in the dark
YT other: Bruno Mars - The way you are, AC/DC (likes Angus Young), Europe, Glee-then originals, Queen,
    songs from Pitch Perfect-then originals
    YT suggestions: sometimes
    YT auto: off
Facebook: yes, but goes to Youtube
What is Soundcloud: virtual storage for music
    Listened to SC: never
What is Deezer: ..amm Porn..? Oh, no, that is Brazzers .....(?!?) :winker:
Spotify: music program that you load/buy
    Bandcamp: don't know
What is streaming audio: don't know
Ever used it: well hell no! ...if I don't know what is it!!
iTunes: program if you want to listen to something Apple makes (she has shuffle)
..oh now I remember I can't put music on my thing!
80s song: Bronski - I feel love (..original?) ..Donna Summer
90s song: Corona - Rhythm Of The Night

    Man, you understand me perfectly...

Funny and quite interesting post! I'm asking too!
So apart from radio and music on mobile.... On the top, Youtube and after Spotify. The exact results I got from mine ahah.

But the question is: how do they get the files in playlist on their phone? Where do they download music? Converting from youtube?

Yes, it is funny but it's also fun..! To be clear though, I don't make fun of her just because I spend half of my time on my music comp and consequently know stuff that she doesn't. And the way she as the "consumer" reacts is very important information - that is if you want to serve your productions to as many ppl as possible. You can also choose to make music only for narrow audience or just yourself..
The big boys like Google, M$, Apple... are doing just that, only on an enormous scale. Analytics, telemetry.. al this fine things are worth billions.

And to answer your question.. usually "they" get the music they want on their phones, usb for car radio etc. using YOU!

Use Soundcloud for the private link labels ask for pretty much, some mixing, but also use mixcloud for that. I saw use whatever you want, depending on how far you really want to take production.
