    Hi AudioSex

Currently i want to add an additional Reference monitor for mixing, along with my main Monitor..
the problem is,most audio interface only has one set of monitor outputs ..

    Now the question is
Where do I connect my another set of speakers??

is there anyone out there who uses multiple Monitors?

1.How did you set it up?
2.Please advice a much cheaper Alternative solution..as much as possible without having to buy an additional gear..
Or do i have any choice?

i think its hassle, every time i want to compare the mix, ill disconnect the cables, then switch the cables of the other one..
    and the routine goes..waaah.. :(

    Thanks in Advance..
    Help Much Appreciated..

I use a DJ mixer from Radio Shack Multi input. Multi output with volume controls. You will need separate amplifiers. $100 or less.

That box is designed to work with passive speakers, not the "active" type most common in studio monitoring.

At worst you can use a patchbay (should not pay more that 30/40£ at the most, although some cost hundreds...)
You certainly don't need another amplifier.

If your monitors are passive a box like the one suggested by Willum will do just fine.. if they are active the cheapest solution is to have two set of connecting cables, one set for each pair of monitor.

In any case, most audio interfaces do have at least 4 outputs and in most cases they are assignable from inside your DAW (usually Master output 1/2 or 3/4 and so on).
It would help to know what audio interface you have...

Well, you can get something like a Mackie Big Knob. Your Fast Track would still be useful and you will have enough to put two extra sets of monitors which you can mute/solo.

You may have thought I was kidding about the DJ mixer from Radio Shack. I am not. It is an extremely flexible and cost effective solution.

I have mine hooked up so that I have connected different Input sources, Computer Front and rear outputs, TV, Stereo, Microphone, and Guitar input.
That's right I can use it for Hi or Low imp. microphones, or a guitar input, I can even run my TV through it for movies and such.

The main output has 7 band Stereo graphic EQ then goes to a amp/speaker set, Other Outputs include Booth which goes to another amp/speaker set, and cue which goes to another amp/speaker set, also has a record out which I connect to a small set of computer speakers with it's own volume control.

Here's your bonus; When recording send only the Microphone or Guitar to the cue, and connect it to your sound card input. now you are using a mic preamp with Hi and Low shelving EQs. You can still use the other monitors for listening.

You can monitor three sets of speakers. Pick only one speaker set or listen to all three with any blend you like between them. (not so good for reference but the musicians love it)

Anyway that's the way I use it. Hope that helps

beware of samson harware. they use crappy components, faders, knobs ect. I had a samson 12 channel mixer. It didnt even last a year. all the pots and sliders were scratchy and channel one quit working. I learned my lesson years ago. You buy budget gear, you get budget preformance. I have a closet piled with 99 dollar crap that broke on me :wow:

*there are a few exeptions though, like the realistic mixer that burning star mentioned

Fortunately, I own a mackie onyx fw mixer that has monitor and control room outs. I got some old alesis m1s on one pair of outs and behringer truths with the matched sub on the other
