Apparently Serum 2 is just around the corner and waiting to be opened, I suspect that it will either come next year in January or a little later. But one thing I know is that in 2025, everyone will only be concerned with Serum 2 and will simply ignore all the plugins in the world and only be concerned with Serum and playing around and creating new sounds and new sound design.

 

I can't even imagine what Serum 2 will bring to the table. I'm a bit hyped I have to admit.

 

This will be huge! Dave Gamble say some about it on gear space forum. Steve also say few words on discord server. It take so long because this will be something new and I am sure the best synth on the market!

 

Steve has talked openly about Serum v.2.0 on his Reddit profile and through interviews for years.
Deadmau5 has been testing it since 2021.
My guess is that it's going to release in 2025.

As for what it's going to bring to the table, Steve is a true innovator and he took his time to create something unique.
He's going to set the bar for 10 years again.

Serum v.1 is still fresh in 2024.

 

If the synth is to be maintained for the next 10 years, I can also imagine that there are a few components like a few extra effects and some additional parts to buy, like the Phase Plant

This is not the philosophy of Steve, when you buy, you own everything for life and the end product is complete.
He released Serum FX for Serum owners for free and OTT and Dimension expander free for everyone.

You will probably be able to stack Multipe instances of the same FX types in the effects section until it crashes your computer.
Exacoustics Ghost already allows this.

Edit : Steve Duda also introduced the first rent-to-own model for music software in partnership with Splice.

I'm not a Deadmau5 fan, never cared for his music, that was just a factual information that added to the discussion.
Keep talking trash on the internet, you were probably doing this 10 years ago and you will probably still be doing the same in ten years.
Deadmau5 will probably still be touring the world and enjoying his life.

The artist that made the best use of Serum and was the actual last person to create something new in music was SOPHIE.

 

I love how people pester/stalk serum updates! Here we go again faster harder faster harder! Just be happy with the tools you have to make good music!

 

It will give the developers some new things to copy. The most recent update is from Oct 11,2023.

He's not a sound designer; he uses Vengeance kicks. The pinnacle of his sound design is a pitch envelope on a crash cymbal.

I'm excited about this. I might be a minority in hoping that serum 2 doesn't go the power-synth route, though, which seems to be the trend in more recent plugin releases. part of why serum is so great, in my view, is that it's focused and conducive to an easy workflow. if serum 2 is overcrowded with features, like so many other synths today, and like how it seems many users want it to be, I will probably find it less useful. keep serum 2 elegant and streamlined!
