I hope this message finds you all well. Recently, I've landed a fantastic opportunity to work in a professional studio that not only offers a significant pay increase but also provides access to the Ultimate version of Pro Tools (nothing special about that, but I got if for free so, I'm grateful)

With this development, I've decided to part ways with my personal Pro Tools Studio License. However, I'm a bit unsure about how to determine a fair and reasonable price for it. Additionally, I've invested in a Logic Pro license for my home studio needs, making the transition smoother.

If any of you have experience selling software licenses or have an idea about a suitable price range, I would greatly appreciate your insights. The license is in excellent condition, and I'm committed to ensuring a smooth transfer of ownership.

Maybe cover expense of Logic license, so 200 bucks, seems reasonable, if retail route with 1 year of support plan goes for 600 bucks and 1 year of support cost 200 bucks (right now on Sweetwater). That would probably make sense to buyer, saves 200 bucks.

You should be more clear about what it is exactly that you are trying to sell. Perpetual, subscription, any extras etc... etc...

Yeah perhaps, they may want to move it quickly and got it as an upgrade. Perhaps they bought it as an upgrade so not full price on their end in the 1st. place, like I bought all of my versions after the inital one.

 

I think you are a seriously Optimistic person. There is no way I would do this unless I needed the money for some immediate reason. You have almost no clue how the job will work out for you yet. Not even close.

Maybe I'm being too optimistic, I agree with you. But if, despite everything, the job doesn't work out, I like Logic, so it wouldn't be a problem for me

Anyone who owns an outdated license might be interested. People who've never used Pro Tools because they hate iLok or there's no working crack for current computers are not going to buy no matter the price, AFAIK. A perpetual license renewal at the moment is 200 bucks with one year support. If your license is currently covered by support, it is less than a year left. You are competing with that. Your selling price needs to be lower than 200 bucks to be competitive. The only people who'd pay more are new users interested in working with a current version of Pro Tools.

Quick question, when does support for your license expire? That's an important piece of information for potential buyers.

new license for PT Studio Perpetual costs 659€ at Thomann for ex., and would give you 12 months of updates,

depending on how you licensed your version, either sell it together with physical iLok, or transfer to different iLok account with a fee of 25$ or so, probably not worth buying 49-66€ new iLok dongle,

if your updates expire in April 28th, that's barely 5 months, do note subscription costs 30$/month at AVID website so reallisticaly 150-200$ would be decent sell imo

 

$200 is more than a bargain for a perpetual license, even without any upgrades.
