I've set up and upgraded this mac for audio.
Never be out of the studio ( which is non smoker place)

This is a 10 year old computer dude...
Mac2Sell says 650$, and the site is known to give pretty high price.
I know MacPros are very well built and Xeon are still good, but... this is 10 years ago Xeon! I got my 2012 MacMini (2.4G i7 , 16GB, 1tb fusion) for that price... And it performs MUCH better (and it came with a warranty).

 

I got my 12 core 2011 3.06Ghz with no ram and a radeon HD 5870, two hard drive (hybrid ssd HDD) for ~$2k. I spent about ~$2k more on upgrades for 128GB ram and 4 SSDs and one 4tb HDD.

930 (whatever that currency is) is a lot for a 2006. Just a suggestion, Id say ~600 USD or equivalent for other currencies.

 

That Currency is called Euro… and 1 Euro are 1,12 $ currently, so in a nutshell: This is way way way way too expensive for this Mac. You could build a brand new Hackintosh with current specs for that!

 

Wishful thinking... Im selling my 2014, Core i7 4790 @ 3.60 GHz, 16 GB Ram, 2GB Nvidia GTX 660, 1Tb HD for $500

 

Not worth it so overpriced it is hardly worth 200 € even with the ssd disc

 

Thank you for the giggle. I have been seeing in my area on selling websites people trying to unload stuff for more than it costs new in the shops. I have taken to replying to them with the information of the prices and links to the websites of stores in the area with actual lower prices than their's so that they might actually have a çhance to unload their object. Many times they have thought that the information was an offer aw in the form of a haggle and counter offered with a price still higher than the lower price.offered by the shop whiçh also would include free delivery. Funny world we live in.

 

Estimated cost of 930$? Maybe if you keep it 100 years and sold it as rarity Sorry in your place i'll not sell it if not really needed. This things will be worth a lot more after certain amount of time will pass. Specially if you will have complete original computer. There will be collectors in future who will be prepared to pay unreasonable amount of money for something like that if computer will be still in good working shape. The main problem here is electrolytic capacitor and probably also others, who will probably not survive that long no matter of usage But everything can be fixed, specially capacitors. Other problem with that is inflation and with that worth of money(which wil be like 20-40% less what is now) by the time, when someon will be actually prepared pay around 900$ for that computer.

He's not that far off from projected value but it's the "demand" issue you're dealing with. Right now, no one wants to pay that much for that computer (even though it remains a beast and for the life of me, I don't know why you're selling it?). That computer is better off remaining in your studio after you completely max out the RAM at 32GB AND replace the main and install the 3 additional hard drives, all at 2 TB each. Then that machine will be unstoppable... I know, because I have the same one as my slave computer and it's maxed out at those very specs. I also have maxed out Mac Pro (2009) and MacBook Pro (2011) as alternative Master computers in a VEP5 set-up.

And it is not even worth 200 even with the ssd disc i have a late 2007 i can get 200 for that if i am lucky..
Then the shipping it weights alot so the shipping will cost alot too.
And also the fact that it cant be upgraded to newer OS then Lion is crap soon you cant install many plugin as it wont support Lion so to think you will get 600 for it i say forget it look at any second hand site and you get a much newer Mac for 600 even a pro i saw a Apple Mac Pro 5.1 2.8 GHz XEON Quad-Core 500GB + 240 SSD 8 GB RAM OSX 10.10 5770 for 669 euro on ebay on the first page..

Are you selling because you can't update the OS? If this is the case look at my post in the hackintosh section. I've been able to upgrade the OS to 10.11.5 brining old Betsy back to life.
