Hello

Just wondering if anyone uses screen capture (such as QuickTime) along with loopback audio routing software on their M1 Pro and if so how does the MacBook cope?

I have the 16" 16GB memory version so wanting peoples experiences before I install it to capture Logic Pro sessions

I used a couple screen recording dl's from sister and it was hit or miss. It'll install an audio driver and default the out of logic thru that so youll be. go to sanet and try a few i suppose.. I stopped doing screen recordings. There was some weird latency issues with the ones I tried too... where the audio in the video would be off but when you are doing stuff live there is no latency... try it if you want would be my advice, but I never found anything stable

 

The audio routing software seems to be loopback, that is one people talk about and use it with QuickTime

 

Rogue Amoeba Loopback will give you handy routing/mixing capability,
and then, use OBS - it's free but very powerful, supports M1 hardware accelerated encoders/decoders

QuickTime is very basic and its quality is often quite bad honestly

 

You should use OBS or Camtasia. Camtasia is a bit of a pain to setup for sound. But you should actually learn Logic Pro first. Worry about this in like 2024.
