an official statement from BORIS FX received via email:

    Hi there,

We’ve got some great news to share: Sequoia, Samplitude, and Music Studio are now part of Boris FX.

We're very excited by this and want you to know that the software you trust is in safe hands. The entire team, including developers, engineers, product leadership, and support staff, has made the move. We’ve formed a new subsidiary in Germany to support this transition; longtime team members Thomas Wolf and Sven Kardelke will lead as co-CEOs of Boris FX Germany GmbH.

What does this mean for you?

Simply put: Sequoia, Samplitude, and Music Studio are here to stay, and they’re about to get even better. With the backing of Boris FX, development will speed up, bringing you more frequent updates, cutting-edge new features (including AI-powered tools), and continued innovation. Support remains seamless, now with an even larger global team behind you. Most importantly, the products will continue to deliver the precision, reliability, and quality you’ve always counted on.

We’ll be sharing more details later this summer. In the meantime, we’ve answered a few common questions below. For now, just know that your trust in Sequoia, Samplitude, and Music Studio remains well-placed.

Thanks for being part of the journey. We’re excited for what’s next.

    All the best,

    Boris Yamnitsky

    Founder & CEO, Boris FX

I can only confirm this; it's been floating around here and there for months, even in the official forum. It seems to be coming true. I feel sorry for Magix, but I think things could have been a thousand times worse for us. You can't say anything bad about Boris. However, it remains to be seen how good or bad this is, because I mean we are talking about audio products here and not lens flares (somewhat exaggerated).

In addition, I have been using my own offline dongle activator happily for 14 years (since it is a generic memory loader I have only had to use it about 4 times in the 14 years and the rest of the time I was regged as purchased, worked btw. on the fly with X9 version). If that's what Boris thinks try to chan... hahahah I'm serious, my second thought after the post!

Things are already off to a good start in the new cloned Boris Magix forum. My first search result (SERIOUS):

That's great news - for Sequoia and Samplitude users - sorry to see Magix go, but in my past inter-company interactions with Boris FX, I've encountered nothing but professionalism, and generally speaking good people.

This leads me to believe this is not a Mackie type IP grab, but a genuine opportunity for Boris FX and Samplitude/Sequoia. to grow to the next level.

Now, imagine if Sequoia/Samplitude were ported over to Mac as well - like Cubase/Nuendo - one can dream (I've been for 20+ years).

If samplitude sequoia comes to mac, the audio industry will be rewritten,
would be the biggest development on the planet on the mac side

If all Windows users switched to macOS tomorrow, you'd certainly get a macOS version within a year.
Maybe Magix will go bankrupt and someone will buy it and make something out of it, like Cakewalk Sonar!

I also have a few Magix products; MAGIX Web Designer MX is discontinued, and the other one, VideoToDVD, isn't being updated!

    yea keep dreaming,
I doubt there's a team to rewrite everything from scratch, and if they did, backwards compatibility wouldn't be possible - at which point users might switch to another DAW anyway

There are too few affluent customers; there simply isn't enough money to be made with it. If that were the case, we would have long since turned to other DAWs! The market isn't big enough, or rather, there are simply too few people who need a DAW. The competition is fierce.

How much does programming a DAW cost?
How much does it cost to program a DAW?

Professional DAW (comparable to Ableton Live or Logic Pro):
    - Features: Comprehensive audio and MIDI editing, integrated effects, virtual instruments, AI features, cloud integration, multi-platform support.
    - Team: 5-10 developers, 2-3 designers, audio engineers, QA testers, project managers.
    - Time: 2-5 years.
    - Cost: €500,000–€2,000,000 or more, depending on scope and team location.
    - Example: Developing a DAW on par with Cubase or Pro Tools.

Is money the only thing that matters? I think not really. We mustn't forget that we have Sek'd (and bevor that a Amiga Coder called Titus, not the skater btw.) to thank for Samplitude and then YES also Magix. Sek'd was the first company, and they were absolutely higher state of the art coders - no FREAKZ. You can see this just from this Example : If I start now "Sek'd Samplitude 2496 v5.0" what happens... this: the BASIC functions are the same as "Pro X8 Suite" today, minus the GUI. I could get started straight away without being confused, and I'm talking about a (27 YEAR OLD DAW!) Not everyone can do that. On top of that, Magix was already FIT but had to accept that the SEK'd guys were from another planet, which they turned out not to be, because they had the decency to make the weaker part of Magix FIT. That sounds like Russian romance but I think that's pretty rare these days because Magix had enough MONEY for a DAW including hiring coders. I'm somehow sure that this wouldn't have worked and Sek'd probably too. and MAYBE! that is one reason why so many fall in love with this Object-Based Daw since now.

"To be fair, I have to say that a word made out of thin air like innovation still counts here. It was a dawning of the new digital VST(i) era for every DAW of that time (let's say "Radium" was the first Audio$%&/(grp) - marketing a DAW today has to be BRUTAL. Until you have all the basics down (e.g. auto timestretch, of course, with a good algorithm) and a generally good basic sound (which Samplitude always had - don't forget), you'll probably end up sitting in the evening at a briefing, or worse, brainstorming, until the audio egg superwiser asks who has something innovative... no, guys :)"

As you can see, Magix was recently almost bankrupt and brought in a new investor, and now they're pursuing a different strategy to get the company back into the black, so they've laid off employees and discontinued products to minimize costs.

As you can see, there was neither a macOS, nor was Magix good enough to compete with new competitors like FL Studio, Studio One, Bitwig, Cubase, and others. You know the downfall of Cakewalk - Sonar! Those who can't adapt to the new market conditions and produce uninnovative products that everyone needs disappear from the market or are acquired.

Maybe and : Maybe I'm not objective right now because somehow it all makes me a little melancholic, to be honest, as I just noticed (I was looking for disks - i.e. pictures of titus\amiga sek'd audio stuff) I couldn't find them and now I'm turning to something else, so that's what it's like when you're pregnant hrhr

looking through boris FX catalog, which is mostly plugins, i doubt they will rewrite/port both DAW versions.

Like already said, it is a lot of work and i dont think there is a big market for this.
