    With a database of over 250 different conversions, this portion of our site enables you to compare the performance of most software and hardware sample rate converters on the market."

    This database lists things like harmonics and aliasing introduced to a signal when converted down from 96 kHz to 44.1 kHz. So instead of arguing about which DAW has the most accurate sample rate conversion, you can now just select your DAW from the dropdown menu and compare it with another one. Pretty cool.

    There are so many it is difficult to decipher. Has anybody bothered to figure out which one technically has the best dither conversion yet? Kinda surprised they don't have a handy top 10 list or something on the site, or maybe they do and I missed it? :dunno:

    dbpoweramp definetely is in the top 3 and it's very easy to handle.
    However often you can not hear the errors anyways because they're far below hearing threshold (-115 to -120db).

    Ok, this got me curious. I grabbed all the pictures on the page and averaged the pixels in them, then sorted the pictures by 'darkest' image first. This is a naïve approach and there are some caveats to keep in mind. Darker generally means fewer artefacts, but could also indicate that the SRC just cut off some frequencies. Use your own judgment and verify by checking on the page. You can make out the name on the site from the file names listed below.

    Cubase is a monster, iZotope is close behind, Live is good, Studio One is okay, Logic is bad, FL is bad, Bitwig is bad, ProTools ranges from barely serviceable to the downright shitter, Reaper is surprisingly underwhelming, fucken Audacity is actually good WTF

    tl;dr for tl;dr
    Don't resample within DAW unless you're on Cubase or Live. Use iZotope or Audacity for it.

    Based on listening tests:
    1. r8brain PRO 2.10 (best by far)
    2. dBpoweramp 20.01.23
    3. iZotope RX 10.4.0
    4. Final CD 0.29
    ---
    After trying EZ CD Audio Converter 10.3.0.1 I would put it in the second place. Better transients and highs than dBpoweramp, but less compact sound (highs especially) than r8brain PRO.

    Reaper 6.43 (end of 2021) added r8brain, but the site tested Reaper 6 in April 2020. So "Reaper 6 (extreme HQ)" probably refers to some older method - maybe sinc 768pt.

    My personal conclusion is: Use r8brain (free or pro), iZotope, Cubase, dBPowerAmp or the venerable SoX (free) at very high quality.

    Err, have a look at the colours, -140dB and less isn't what I would call a resounding failure but rather absolutely inaudible. :winker:

    One conclusion is that differences in quality between sample rate conversion software are big.
    Looking at graphs is helpful, but ears are more subtle judge.
    Since the choice of software really matters in this case, I suggest you make your own listening tests before making a pick.

    The site doesn't do the testing, at least not since it was initially put up. Most of those were all sent in by users who download their little test pack and then sent them the results.. The site was a great resource a few years back but a lot of those apps have come along way since the ones that are listed, its just no one is submitting the info to them anymore it seems.

    If anybody wants to be sure you can always download the resources and test out your own DAW..
