When comparing multiple use cases home theater/studio and just wanting to listen loud once in a while with bass that I can feel? Ive only had my tower speakers klipsch 280f and klipsch 52II together and these seem to fill my room with pretty wide bass spectrum that gets loud enough, tho really small xmax makes some poorly mastered tracks or raw bass drum easily reach limits. So I wanna studio speakers which I can use as replacement for these tower speakers too. KH420 seems to be absolutely max budget limit.

To me I absolutely love S3V outer design wise seems very modern and nice to look at, and very modern looking woofer, how it compares to that of KH420 woofer's?

so S3V 2199€ vs KH420 3699€ experiences opinions?

 

S3V 2199€ and KH420 3699€ is price per monitor btw,not the price for the pair.

I don't know these monitors but for sure they don't run in the same category than your current hifi monitors.
they are probably both outstanding.

But IMHO if you are not a professional in the music industry the Adam S3V are more than what you need in terms of audio quality and power.

If you want more bass then add a sub,like the Adam Sub 15.

 

I have not tested KH420, I have an Adam S3V and I'm in love with them.
I do not find any defect. No subwoofer is necessary. Enough volume.
I hear details that I didn't hear before.
You can use them at low volume without any problem.
Spectacular for all styles of music.

Ehh, better buy something cheaper (maybe KH 310 or something by Focal?) and save for the big Dynadio/ATC/Barefoot etc. Monitors in the price range you look are marginally better than these below them.
(And if you want super bass, get a subwoofer...)

 

yeah total price is of s3v is 3000€ less in which I could buy xtz 3x12 subwoofer if I go with s3v and my onkyo is not that good match with these klipsches as both are categorized as bright sounding so I had to tame the tweeters a bit :I I would save ton of space if I wouldnt be needing to store external amp and these 4 tower speakers besides my table

 

I bet that s3v would look lovely besides xtz 3x12 subwoofer if I plan to even buy a subwoofer
That speaker has beastly 500 watt amp just for the driver and dsp in that price

If you're aiming for quality invest in the sound of your room your room first. Speakers are just drivers i the end and the smaller part of the equation imho. Have the perfect room already? Find a good dealer who lets you try both pairs in that room.

 

how is s3v sweetspot? Is it as wide as described in many reviews

 

you can make 4 way if you like , it not hard at all to do !
just part speakers tweeter crossover ..etc and believe it or not you will make batter speaker lass money and you will be the most happy
guy.
just what you need and you can buy it cheap is only the wood tools speaker tweeter crossover woofer the most easy part's to get !

 

A perfect room is nothing without good monitors.

You do get slightly better results with a treated room,but this won't make bad monitors sound good.

 

The S3V has sufficient volume.
If you put it to the maximum, in 15 minutes it will leave you deaf.
I enjoy them because I hear and feel the music. You feel it in your chest.
It has a very good sweetspot. True what they say in the reviews.
For my, is another level. New dimension.

I'm not sure you'll make DIY monitors better than optimized,developped by acousticians and engineers professional monitors.

 

nothing acoustics in both companies , second even if it come from big company , all the parts you can buy from china
and make even the same monitors for 1000$ pair !
and both of the speakers not even done acoustically correct (i'm not saying they are bad)

if you like you can trying it, and see what is real acoustic monitor and how they should sound
just make small speaker and see the result
make the wood case as pentagon shape which is the top shape for sound and acoustic , second make the width 18 cm
and You will see how they wilL sound correctly acoustically done , see the result . by yourself
just try it with cheap part , to test it !

When designing monitors, if they have 2 or more ways, the position design is very important.
if not, you have phases problems. Good dispersion, choose crossover in relation ways.....

 

how about new Genelec 8361 ?
it's active 3-way coaxial design, not cheap but step up for sure

Don't you think all manucturers would make their cabinets in a pentagon shape if it was the perfect shape?Look at ATC monitors for example.
And 18 cm width means nothing,the volume is calculated according to the speakers and amplifier.

 

i forgotten to tell you 18 cm is for 8inch speaker !
i soon will go to my friend of my i building for him a 3 way speaker including sub i will record it how they sound and i will upload a video
to show you the result !

but you can take just for example small portable speaker and i mean you take 2 portable speaker which you can buy each of them 20$
then take them a part , take from them all the component , then recreate just pentagon shape and i can promise you will hear
what i mean

second if you need to make a surround speaker then hexagon is the best shape !
