2021 was a busy year for Mac followers, and according to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, a trusted source for Mac tips, there will be even more Apple product releases in 2022.

For over 6 months now, we have encountered rumors surrounding Apple silicon chip updates, and now we know about 5 models including the Mac mini, Macbook Air, Mac Pro, iMac,and now an entry-level version of the Macbook Pro is also apparently on the cards.

Which Apple product releases are rumored to be on their way in 2022?

A new update to the Mac mini, equipped with the latest Apple silicon CPU
A new iMac, with higher performance specs and perhaps even a 27-inch model
The new Mac Pro, with a new Apple silicon high-performance CPU
An updated and redesigned Macbook Air with the new M2 chip
An entry-level version of the Macbook Pro with the same M2 chip update The new 5G-equipped iPhone SE
Airpods Pro Spacial audio enabled wireless earbuds with ANC The first-ever Apple AR/VR headset
The most notable of the rumors in Gurman’s latest Power On newsletter, was certainly the entry-level Macbook Pro and the Macbook Air which both feature the same M2 chip update.

As Apple has just completed the rollout of the new M1 Pro and Pro Max Macbook Pro with a complete design overhaul, there will be a large group of mac-users looking for more affordable solutions for mobile workstations. With the power of these new Apple silicon-based Macs, basic DAW operations seem rather rudimentary so it makes sense to purchase something specific to your needs rather than spending upwards of $2000.

On the high-end and desktop side of things, 2022 could well be bringing some exciting new prospects our way.

With the success of the M1 chip in both the Macbook Air and Mac mini, we can expect the next versions to give us even more on the performance price-tag ratio.
Studios that haven’t yet upgraded to Apple silicon-based desktop systems could well get the opportunity next year, no matter what your budget may be.
Always keep in mind when upgrading, that it would be wise to run a Mac OS system a version or 2 behind the current version to avoid compatibility issues with your DAW and plugins.
