If you are already following a tutorial, why don't you post it?

The Standard & Easiest Way in Cubase (works in Cubase 15 Pro)
    1. Create an Instrument Track and load Dune CM into it (this will be your sounding synth).
      • Name it something like "Dune CM Synth" for clarity.
    2. Create a second track — this time a normal MIDI Track (not instrument track).
      • Do NOT load any VST into this MIDI track.
    3. On this MIDI Track:
      • Set the MIDI Output (in the Inspector, top of the track inspector) → choose the Dune CM instrument track. (It will appear in the list as something like "Dune CM" or the name of your instrument track.)
    4. On the same MIDI Track:
      • Add B-Step CM as a MIDI Insert effect:
        • Open the Inspector → MIDI Inserts section → click an empty slot → choose B-Step CM from the list (it should appear under MIDI plug-ins / sequencers).
    5. Done!
      • Now put your MIDI data / notes on the MIDI track that has B-Step as insert — but honestly most people just use B-Step's internal pattern sequencer.
      • When you play the project, B-Step generates MIDI → that MIDI is processed through the insert → gets sent out the MIDI track output → hits Dune CM → you hear sound.
