    Hi,
I see many Roland VS & Tascam consoles on Ebay. Can these consoles be used for analog effects like reverb, delay or Compression ?

    Thanks VS840GX.png VS840GX.png VS840GX.png VS840GX.png

Since this is a digital tool, the fx are digital too, so there's no analog effect added.
Due to the size of these tools I doubt that they used a lot of great hardware for the fxs, but sorry, I don't really know.

I´ve used vs-series, effects are decent, but i wouldn´t buy it for the effects unless you´re using it as portable recorder.
Better buy some outboard fx like lexicon mx series

Is Lexicon better then Software reverb/delay? I can feel huge difference in sound when it comes to Analog synths is it same for hardware reverbs like lexicon ?

The only difference would be non linearities of analog circuitry and converters. IMHO It´s a matter of taste.
Some like clean and pure sound and some like coloration on sound

What don't you like in reverb/delay plugins?
Try different ones maybe.Try Soundtoys delays and TC vss3 if you don't know them, they sound great!

I just don't like the clean sound... it sounds flat. Yes should try something different. Thanks

I often use saturation plugins before or after the reverb.Or try a chorus after for example,a compressor,a dynamic EQ,be creative!
We are really lucky, our plugins of today sound great! And you have a large choice. If you buy a 200$ hardware reverb I'm not sure it will sound better, but you'll be sure to lose the flexibility of plugins.
A reverb or delay is always digital, hardware or software.

No, there are some hardware devices that still use the bucket brigade ICs, analog as they are based on capacitors, like the TDA1022. They are often used in guitar pedals, especially in DIY projects.

An analog reverb made from discrete electronic components.
    Interesting idea

Up to this I'd agree with your post, but the origin of plate and spring revebs are real analoge hardware, as well as some delays/echos are.

This is an old machine with some semi-crappy reverbs and delays (yes, all digital).
Buy or download Valhalla plugins and call it a day.

Yeah, you're right, but it's oldskool stuff. You can also find hardware reverb with tubes, but all that is pretty rare.
For synths spring reverbs are not very good and real plate reverbs are part of the past.
BBD Delays/chorus are not common today,I don't know people using that with DAWs.But why not!

Just throw an Eventide Blackhole mixed with a Soundtoys Crystallizer in there and you won't only get different, or not flat, you'll get Cosmic Orbital GlitterVerbation :yes::wink: But even if that combo doesn't work, and your really brave add a Valhalla Shimmer on top of those, and be prepared for an Out of Body Experience! :woot:

and beware of many vintage analog hardware have worse performance than new developed contemporary product, use them only when you need for sound coloring

    what's been said above

+ if your AD /DA converters are bad, your analog gear will be useless.

there's enough good digital verbs or FX out there to get the job done
