Audio interface aimed solely at streamers

The recently announced Bridge Cast sees Roland move into the ever-expanding gaming market, offering a professional USB-C audio streaming interface and mixer aimed squarely at online gamers. Drawing on the company’s 50 years of experience in developing audio equipment, the device promises to take users’ gaming sound to the next level.

The device’s mixer allows independent mixes to be created for both the user and their stream viewers, ensuring that the personal and streamed mixes offer the perfect balance of microphone level, team chat, gameplay sounds, and background music. Dedicated knobs for each source are provided on the top panel, which is also detachable, allowing users to easily customise the design using a downloadable skin template if they wish.

Further features are provided by a companion Bridge Cast app, which offers a selection of microphone and audio processing options, voice transformer settings, and EQ presets, as well as allowing users to re-assign the device’s hardware controls and save/recall specific configurations for different games and streaming audiences. The device is equipped with on-board DSP which takes care of processes such as EQ, compression, noise suppression and de-essing, ensuring that system resources are left available for games and streaming applications. Plans are also in place to integrate the app with Roland Cloud, providing users with unlimited access to a huge collection of royalty-free sound effects and backing music titles.

The rear panel of the unit houses an XLR microphone input (+48V phantom power is available if required), along with three 3.5mm mini-jack sockets which offer connectivity for headphones or a headset, a line-level output, and an auxiliary input. A pair of USB-C connectors are also present, with one providing a connection to a host computer or mobile device, and the other intended as a dedicated power supply input for applications where the connected device is unable to supply the required current.

Pricing & Availability: The Bridge Cast will be available in January 2023, priced at $299.99.
