.bin files can be made by running a python script within the same folder as the .mid files. It will consolidate them into a single .bin. The Bin for the 8000 will be around 630kb's and the 8080 will be about 1.1mb.

Consulting with Grok, or your preferred Ai platform can outline the details on exactly how to do this.

Essentially, get the .mid firmware for the 8000 and the 8080 (8080 seems to not be available via Roland). On a PC you could install Anaconda, install Python, follow instructions from Grok or another Ai platform. In the end, you get the converted .bin file(s)

Question is: will the .bin output be compatible with the JE-8086? That remains to be seen.

it's possible there is no update file for the 8080 posted on Roland's site, because they never issued an update for it (ie, once they'd got to the final JP8000 version, all those updates were rolled into the release version of the 8080, and Roland never made any further updates).

There is an 8080 firmware floating around, just not available via Roland. Supposedly Roland pulled it (1.04). Perhaps the 1.05 firmware for the 8000 is cross-compatible with the 8080?

Tried looking for it on the Wayback Machine?
Edit: Even going back to 2017 there's nothing for the 8080...
    Edit2: Try this: https://forum.vintagesynth.com/viewtopic.php?t=103899

Maybe, we just don't have all the deets yet - I'm sure once the plugin is released creative people will be getting right on all this... ;)

Hey, with all the respect to your work, having Microtuning ( like on Arturia's version ) via the MIDI MTS Tuning Standard ( that is already inbuilt in the MIDI -> hence the name Midi Tuning Standard ) like on Arturia's version, would be a true gift to humanity

( we ( kind of ) have to be able to tune our synths ( to bring the true blessing of music to humanity ) )

Thank you for bringing this great sound to the people

Be carefull, usually this kind of advices from AI are the way to nowhere, I'll be surprised if these kind .bin files will work or are readable by the JP-8000 and I would never test them on a real machine if you don't need a futuristic doorstop

    +1

I´ve been using AI and the times it lied blatantly was unaceptable, for my taste tho..
I usually feed it a few manuals, review article or some pdf paper and after that it kinda has boundaries, otherwise it just acts as a joker.

They do it constantly to me :). That’s how they’re designed: to be very helpful and supportive, always ready with an answer, even if they have no clue what you are actually asking (Sounds like someone I’ve met here:))

It probably wouldn't tell you to take the firmware from one synth, convert it to something else and then try to load it back into the synth (or another model) as its firmware. That would be a circle jerk. He's obviously talking about using them inside a plugin on the computer.
