Oh didn't realize it was out already.
Just playing with a few of the presets articstorm provided... its decent, a bit buggy but to be expected.

You need the 'jp8080_v1.05'... with that, the AU plug-in with Logic opens and works, even though - and this goes for all The Usual Suspects plug-ins - they produce noise, clicks, and crackles... but I think it happens because I'm on an iMac i5 with 8GB RAM.
The strange thing is though, all the other software houses' plugs work fine...

CPU overload. That's why noises and cracks. For realtime change the sampling rate to 44.1 kHz and some bigger latency like 2048 Samples or more. Just test it and set the value which get rid of the cracks and noises. Later for bouncing audio into WAV change sampling to maximum like 192 kHz and latency to minimum like 128 Samples.

 

Everyone is tired of explaining the difference between an emulator and a native plugin: an emulator does not literally run the synthesizer’s code, it runs an emulation of an entire set of chips from the real synth, plus the firmware. This is tens of times more CPU-intensive than standard, generic algorithms. If that doesn’t work for you, you should be looking for other options….

 

Logic is set to 44.1 and the Buffer is at 1.024.
Unfortunately, because of the noises and cracks, I've never been able to use any of the Usual Suspects plugins.

 

I think all that's needed is a more powerful computer...

Try setting the sample rate to 512, then to 256 samples; the crackling should disappear!

Runs very smooth, no CPU issues.

The opposite! If you decrease sample rate buffer then latency will be smaller and CPU load higher!
You need to put more latency and increase the buffer so the CPU load will be lower.

Less Latency = CPU load higher
More Latency = CPU load lower

 

There's already lots of skins that have been made on their Discord for all TUS releases...
It's great there although mostly quiet though.

I run it with 64 samples, no problem at all, tested with Blue Cat's Patchwork.
Win11 Pro, AMD 9800X3D, 64GB RAM, MSI MAG Tomahawk X870E PZ, RTX5080, Audio USB Interface Audient ID4.

 

For old cpu may try this:
Right click in the plugin gui and try different block setup, try 2 instead 1, maybe help with latency and cpu stress
